Parking was easy, which is always a plus. There was a bit of a wait, but honestly we appreciated it. The quality of the food made it well worth it, and it was refreshing to slow down and enjoy the experience.
My husband ordered the fish and chips and it was delicious. The fries were great on their own, but dipping them into the sauce that came with the fish took them to another level. We split two pies, the Thai Green Curry and the Cubano, and both were sooo yummy and very filling.
My husband also mentioned that the lady at the counter was very kind and welcoming. We left a cash tip, but I am not sure if they accept cash as payment based on an older review I saw, so just keep that in mind.
We will definitely be back and are already thinking about our next visit. I will have to add pictures once I get a chance, and I cannot wait to share this spot on my socials.
Wish we had decided to eat here instead of grab and go but blessed by the gods we stopped period.
They definitely have HOT pies to go but now I have to try every single pie and the entire entree list. The Thai Chicken Curry Pie, so good. Flavorful but not overly, with the RIGHT amount of heat and the Steak and cheese, the steak and cheeeeeeeese. Whew. Braised beef had to be…cooked with red wine, I’m guessing on that though, but the flavors told me it was a slow cooked into a bomb of deliciousness and baked in a crispy crust.
Restaurant was open and relaxed. Tons of great art to match the vibe and cricket on the Telly. Hit all the marks. Chick behind the counter was awesome. Pleasant, friendly, all the things.
I WILL be returning to try other pies AND the sausage rolls AND the fish and chips and the curry chips. List goes on. Kudos to this place. Can’t wait to return.
Heaps is the place you want to go when the weather is chilly and you want something that warms you up. Their pies are exceptionally filling for their size, the ingredients come together phenomenally, and their service is astonishingly good.
Heaps has cafe style vibes while maintaining great food. You really feel at home when you come here, wherever home is for you. I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit and am already looking forward to my next. I’m willing to bet you’ll be doing the same once you give them a try.
The husband and wife who run the place are the sweetest! I met Ann today and instantly loved her energy. Their customer service is quick, simple, and so warm — the kind of place that makes you feel welcomed the second you walk in.
I even grabbed some frozen pies to take home because I already know I’m coming back next week. 10 out of 10 — highly recommend. If you love great food and kind people, this is the spot!
And Sausage roll! Oh the sausage roll, I could write sonnets about you! Oh what the heck, I will!
Upon the tray, a golden, flaky crust, In buttered layers, crisp and bronzed with heat, A pastry shell that yields as it must, To reveal the savory, seasoned meat. No humble snack, but glory wrapped in dough, With herbs that sing of sage and toasted skin, A steam that rises in a gentle glow, From juices held so tenderly within.
The first crunch echoes like a baker’s pride, A salt-flecked crumb that scatters on the floor, With heat and spice and nothing left to hide, One simple bite commands a dozen more. Oh, noble roll, in parchment paper dressed, Of all the savory treats, you are the best.
Go here, great people, and whoa buddy, they got pies.
Things I like: hot, cold, and I think frozen available. Picture shown is a cold sausage roll I’m reheating for pie breakfast.
Things I love: individually wrapped with cute identifiers to ensure you don’t have a pie catastrophe biting into a vegan pie when you neeeeeeeeeded some meat. ♂️
Thank you pie god and goddesses!
I also had the desert that was quite tasty. I will be back often. Can’t wait to try the other pies. Thanks!
All of it was incredible.
The kiwi Pilsner was a cool offering and tasted great. Will be coming back.
It’s crazy how different the restaurant looks beyond the bricks. It’s very relaxed where you can bring your kids to watch soccer on tv. But upon closer inspection it’s an amalgam of New Zealand, Decatur, Atlanta, and Nyc. They got Gza and Sharon Jones framed. Also vintage and modern. That yellowed menu board takes me back. Also their bathrooms are super clean and modern.
I ordered a beef and cheddar pie and fish and chips. Be warned these pies are both filling and addictive. It was savory and the crust was flaky like biscuit layers. The fried fish was fresh, chips were a decent cut, and I could eat that remoulade sauce on just about everything.
Gotta hand it to the owner Jake Harvey. He’s done an amazing job, going from pop-up to now his own restaurant. Need to go back asap. Check out Heaps!
