Oh Man! …what a refreshing Sunday afternoon at El Coco. I was pleased with my first visit. To start, the drinks were a setup to make it an auto revisit situation. The taco selection was great, and of course, I had a few different ones to see what they were working with; nice flavor. As a side note, if they were to offer an in-house made drizzle of a spicy, citrusy or smokey flavor would take these little beauties to the next level. The servers were very friendly and eager to make it an enjoyable experience. Finally, this is a great spot to visit with friends without busting your budget!

Great food. Empanada was well made and the tacos were very flavoursome. $5 Pina Colada was really lush and had a nice kick to it. Friendly service. Good for birthdays as you’ll get a sing song and a free shooter. Would visit again!

Good place for Happy Hour and large pour margaritas. Good prices but not 24/7 Happy Hour as the website advertised. (Server explained that was only true at their other branch!) Food seems to be an afterthought. Elote corn was the best of what we tried but go in thinking bar first, with apps. Also very noisy and buzzy which wasn’t what we were looking for! Would not bring kids in the evening. Restaurant is a few steps below sidewalk level and would be challenging for a wheelchair to access.

Imarol & Evelyn,
There’s two are the perfect duo when it comes to running a restaurant. Not only did the drinks give a great vibe but the food & music were a vibe too. Growing up in the city seems tough but when you visit places like this life seems a lot more simpler. Thank you el coco for wonderful staff and a great time!

The margaritas are . Well made and in happy hour for $5! It’s a small cup but you can’t beat that price in NY.
Brunch was also good, pretty much authentic Mexican food for $10.
I was surprised to see this place sort of empty, really, this is very good, don’t let this place shut down.

El Coco is the place to be after a long work day! You can’t beat the $5 margaritas and $4 tacos.

The food was delicious and flavorful. I loved the carne asada tacos and the chicken empanadas. Our bartenders were so friendly and accommodating. The service is best at the bar.

Can’t wait to come back for more.

Stopped by El Coco to check out using them as a venue for a private party.

TL:DR
Nice ambience but expensive for what you get.

They have a covered patio in the back and the decor is lovely. But there is no airflow so I’m wet and muggy. They have ceiling fans so I’m not sure if those make a big difference but rn it’s a bit uncomfortable.

The interior is ok but feels more like a cafeteria than a sit down restaurant.

Came at lunch and ordered the happy hour margarita, which came in a baby sized tumbler. 🙁

And a chicken burrito which was very yummy but also on the small side. Additionally, they charge a $1 for sour cream, $2 for corn, etc. So at first glance the menu looked in line with similar restaurants in the area. But given the small portions and upcharges for things like sour cream and corn, the value is limited.

If you are looking for an outdoor dining experience that’s cute and quiet, give it a shot. Otherwise, for the price, there are better food options in the area, both in value and ambience.

What a perfect spot for a marg and a snack! Cute decor. And the prices are on point! Tasty tacos and empanadas and handmade margaritas. Can’t go wrong. Our bartender Dave was fun and attentive. Will certainly be back.

Super fun weekend brunch or weekend happy hour option. The empanadas were delicious and the margs were $5 each!

Service was took awhile but it seems they were short staffed.

This is a no frills, casual Mexican spot. We came in for an early dinner before a movie and were pleasantly surprised. I got a vegetarian burrito bowl, which was solid. We got a couple of different margaritas (classic, coconut, cucumber, strawberry) – all were tasty! The coconut didn’t have enough coconut taste in my opinion but it was still the perfect balance of tart and sweet. Will definitely be back!
