Valentine’s Day dinner done right. Takumi delivered an experience that felt thoughtful, welcoming, and memorable from start to finish. The ambience was a full 5 out of 5. Warm, stylish, and intimate enough for date night while still feeling lively. It’s the kind of place that works just as well for a cozy dinner for two as it does for small or large groups celebrating something special. Reservations are highly recommended, and for good reason.
The service was exceptional. Our server, Ken, truly made the night stand out. He knew the menu inside and out and gave spot-on food and drink recommendations, then surprised us with two shots of Japanese vodka on the house, which instantly earned bonus points. Attentive without hovering, friendly without overdoing it. That balance is rare.
Food-wise, this was a solid 4 out of 5. We ordered the Takumi signature Maki, Shrimp Tempura, Shrimp and Chicken Fried Rice, and the Gyudon with Wagyu beef. Everything was well prepared, flavorful, and satisfying. The Takumi signature Maki was the clear star of the evening. Fresh, beautifully presented, and layered with flavor in a way that made each bite better than the last. It’s the kind of roll that makes you pause mid-conversation and say, “Okay… this right here.” The rest of the dishes rounded out the experience nicely, hearty and comforting without feeling heavy. The menu does a great job catering to a wide range of taste buds and dietary needs, whether you are feeling adventurous or sticking with familiar favorites.
Drinks were another win. The Sweet n Spicy signature cocktails had the right kick, paired nicely with Prosecco, and yes, those complimentary vodka shots sealed the deal. We capped off the night with a delightful dessert, Taiyaki, which was the perfect sweet finish and a great way to end the meal on a high note. All in, we spent around $130, which felt fair for the quality, portions, and overall experience.
Takumi is polished without being pretentious, fun without being loud, and consistent where it counts. Great food, top-tier service, and a vibe that makes you want to come back. Valentine’s Day approved and date night certified.

Everything we tried at Takumi was absolutely amazing. We were lucky enough to try some of their special fish flown in from Japan, and the flavor was unreal—so fresh, clean, and delicate. The torched salmon melted in my mouth, and the oysters were outstanding. You can really tell they care about quality here. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is thoughtful, and the food speaks for itself. We can’t wait to come back.

Ruth was fantastic!! She made our two year anniversary special by being attentive just because – She didn’t even know we were celebrating anything. We ordered happy hour dishes, which were mostly your standard – but the oysters had an Asian flare to them and were prepped so they were nice and easy to eat. Maryland roll and Scallop roll were amazing, and every Sashimi we had (Amberjack, yellowtail, bluefin tuna) were some of the most delicious and fresh sashimi I’ve ever had. We will definitely be coming back!! (The dessert was also super cute & Delicious)

Could not recommend more!
High quality fish and high quality chefs!!

Did not expect much but damn, it’s almost as if I was transported back to Japan. They also have a pretty good sake selection.

Each dish I ordered was very delicious especially the scallop, sushi set and the tuna sushi rolls!

This place has some of the best fish I’ve had at a Sushi restaurant in the United States. Some of their non-fish dishes were okay, but the fish was very good. The Tartare and Crispy Rice were both very good, so was the Nigiri. If I didn’t live so far, I’d go here all the time for sushi.

I would like to note that I did go here on Valentines day around 3pm, so it is entirely possible that they had better fish and their best staff for Valentines Day.

My husband and I visited Takumi to check out the spot before we ran some errands in the mall. We ended up eating at Takumi again after our errands.

Takumi really is a special gem. Their sashimi is the closest quality of sashimi we’ve had in Maryland since our visits to Korea and Japan. The oysters taste like Asian oysters. They taste like the ocean and have its own flavor. They get an omakase box, so they have a good variety of fish.

Their mixed drinks are based off a mixologist who has had experience in Manhattan as a bartender. The old fashioned was superb.

All their fish is excellent quality! Don’t overlook this place just because it’s in the mall!

Unique and savory Japanese menu. Their drink menu offers many original mixes as well as a variety of beer selections. The design of the restaurant provides a calming ambience. Ryan is an outstanding bartender (creative)! And Mr. Zhong has a very successful American dream to share.

Came last week to celebrate a birthday. Upon making our reservation, our host, Eileen, offered the option to decorate our table to make the night more special. It was beautifully and elegantly curated – truly exceeded all of our expectations!

Not only was the service before entering amazing, but the food and drinks were fresh and delicious. I love that they had a variety of different fish to try, especially in the Takumi Supreme Sashimi. It’s great for those who love to try new things. The owner even gave us a crab dish to try at the end which was delightful and refreshing.

After dinner, they presented the cake we brought in and used their own sparkler candles which truly elevated the end of our celebration!

Seriously can’t express how grateful and pleased we are with the service in making this night memorable! Highly recommend for anyone interested in some great food or a special event!

We had a great experience, the food was very delicious. Our server Rose gave us a few recommendations and we had to try them. We were glad we did as everything she had picked out was on point. We tried the Maryland, Dragon, the Bumble Bee and the Osaka. I would highly recommend these. The bumble bee would be a great dessert option. For starters we had Miso soup and the pork dumplings, these were also very good everything came out pretty quick and Rose was very friendly and accommodating.

Visiting takumi was The highlight of my day. I’m a sucker for Japanese food so I was enthusiastic to see what this restaurant had to offer. Immediately impressed by the quality of plates, bowls and utensils. Many of them appeared majestic and distant, exuding a strong Japanese charm. The portions were absolutely perfect! I usually finish my kani salad by myself, but there was so much that I could easily share with my boyfriend. I can’t wait to come back and try more things in the menu. The gyudon in and golden Ramen were so delicious. It’s evident that the chef takes great pride in their craft, and we truly appreciated it.
