Atmosphere: Dara is a new Thai spot in Philadelphia that I’d been excited to try. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it feels warm and inviting, with a clean, modern look.

Food: I ordered Gai Yang Somtum. This was the grilled chicken with sticky rice and somtum salad, which included green papaya, string beans, tomato, dried shrimp, and peanuts, all tossed in a bright lime-chili dressing. The flavors were fresh and nicely balanced. I was surprised by the unique presentation. I also tried the vegetable spring rolls, which were crisp, light, and served with a sweet dipping sauce. Overall, the food tasted fresh and felt healthy!

Service: Service was quick and friendly! I recommend trying this restaurant.

The restaurant is very beautiful, the atmosphere is very nice and romantic for this valentine’s month. I and my husband really enjoyed the place and the food here. This month they have special menu for valentines too. Staffs also very attentive and taking good care of us. I think on the weekdays are no rush , so we have really good time there . We will definitely be back.

Ok, Thai is about my favorite food, and this place was as good as I’ve been to. My red curry with pork belly was damn delicious, and the grilled chicken skewer appetizer was completely new to me and I loved it. I would go back and try everything on the menu, no joke.

Service was a little confusing with the server, but we worked it out. Place was clean and had nice traditional Thai decor. My Thai Tea could have been a little bigger, but that’s pretty much how it always goes.

If you are in Philly and looking for Thai food, come here!

ordered the Thai iced coffee, vegan basil fried rice, and vegan Pad Kee Mow all three were absolutely top-notch! Each dish was bursting with flavor and perfectly seasoned.

The only downside was that we felt a bit rushed toward the end of our meal. Our plates were cleared immediately after we finished, and the check was placed on the table without asking. We were there on a Saturday afternoon around 12:30 PM it did get busier, but there were still several tables open, so the quick wrap-up felt unnecessary.

That said, the food itself was fantastic, and I’d still recommend this place for anyone craving flavorful Thai dishes.

Went to this restaurant for the first time a couple weeks back because I was craving Thai food and Chatayee Thai was closed.

Dara had the atmosphere you would describe as cozy. Light music, soft lighting, ambient chatters of life throughout the restaurant.

Their food was immaculate and the staff was very patient with explaining each dish and how to eat it to me. The drink I ordered tasted like an enhanced pina colada.

Overall, would recommend and would definitely come back.

Dined here in June 2025, very cute interior design. Service was exceptional, food came out fast.

All the dishes were delicious and good sized portions. Ordered, Thai tea, and lemon Thai tea. Their Tom yum soup is one of the best I’ve had so far in Philly! Obviously had to taste calamari, drunken noodles, pad Thai and mango sticky rice.

Catching up with my bestie at Dara, a Thai restaurant, was everything I needed! The ambience was super cute & quaint, the service was on point , and the food… OMG sooo good

The calamari literally melted in my mouth . The crab fried rice is officially my new obsession —so fresh & flavorful! I also tried the Hor Mok (young coconut, scallops, jumbo shrimp, squid in a creamy red curry sauce topped with basil, lime leaves & hot peppers ️ ). I was skeptical at first but it blew me away .

The mocktails were not only super delicious but also so creative the perfect pairing with all the flavors.

We wrapped it all up with sticky mango rice —such an interesting and unique flavor to end the night.

This place is definitely a MUST TRY!

We tried Tom Yum Goong soup (decent) along with several other dishes. We ordered the Duck green curry which was served with big chunks of duck rather than smaller slices. The other dishes were all acceptable, but unfortunately none stood out. The Mango sticky rice was decent.

Not a place I would go back.

I stopped in for dinner and was seated immediately. The restaurant is small with tables close together but the atmosphere is great and everyone there was considerable to other patrones. You can byob, there were a few parties with wine. The food came out very fast and portions were large. I had thai tea, scallion pancakes and noodles. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked.

Dara Thai was awesome. I was referred by Saint, a former employee. He was right: this is a must-visit restaurant if you love Thai food and want the authentic taste of Thailand. The Khao Soi was one of the best I’ve ever had, paired with a crispy fried chicken dish that’s a 5-star experience. Let me tell you, the Pad Thai was flavorful in every bite. They also offer lunch specials. This is a BYOB establishment, perfect for a date night.
