We ordered the hot pot + sushi option ($28.99) for 5 people and were very disappointed.
Nigiri was limited to 10 pieces per order, sashimi only 5 pieces per person, and during the 90-minute dining time, sushi/sashimi only came twice, about 30 minutes apart.
We asked for ice water and soup refills multiple times but never received them.
Meat quality has clearly declined, and our shrimp tempura roll never arrived.
We invited relatives to try this place and it was honestly embarrassing.
Not worth the price anymore.

We came here to celebrate my son’s birthday and had such a great time!
$19.99 all-you-can-eat hot pot — so worth it! Each person gets their own pot, and you can choose your soup base. The meat was fresh, veggies and seafood had plenty of options, and the staff were very friendly.
We also loved the cozy vibe — warm lighting, clean tables, and quick service. The fried chicken and spring rolls were surprisingly good too!

It’s a weekday night, but still full house! — people were waiting for tables even when we left. That says a lot about how popular this place is!

First time here. Service was attentive and price is affordable

The broth was flavorful and the bar has pick your own ingredients style. Also make your sauce in the sauce bar. Will keep coming back

No need to drive all the way to concord for Shabu shabu anymore

Shabugen Hot Pot stands as the worst hot pot experience in the Sacramento area, failing to meet basic standards. The soup has no flavor and takes forever to heat up. Another critical flaw was the accompanying dipping sauce, which was severely watered down and flavorless—a key failure for the cuisine.

The meal was frustratingly slow, as the soup base in the small pots took forever to heat up. The food quality was low, with limited variety and ingredients that looked noticeably old. Meats are only two slices per order, makes it inconvenient to order. The appetizer including fried chicken is a joke.

Overall, Shabugen is way under standard. I give it the least star possible and will not return.

My friends and I we went to get soup.
Of course they have lots of selection see food but the meat is only three or two at a time.
That’s the part I don’t like.
Since that day was so busy the waiter took longer to bring water or to asked them we want more meat.
The place is dim and of course looks nice. There’s was a lot of people.
Overall is ok to come. Just order constantly the meat.

Do I recommend? Yes. Try it.

The staff were very friendly. We did the $20 all you can eat hot pot. We went around 8pm on a Sunday and it was an estimated hour wait but we ended up being a 45 min wait. The appetizers were only ok – the chicken wings were cold and the edamame were clearly microwaved from frozen. They had an oddly squishy texture.
The soups were lacking a bit of flavor but there was a variety of choices and everything seemed fresh. You can order 5 plates of meat at a time but each plate only comes with 3-4 paper thin slices and some were very fatty and did not appear as they were pictured on the menu. It’s a good value for your money but overall just ok

Went there for lunch. An all you can eat for $20 is practically unheard of these days so we were pleasantly surprised at the value this buffet style restaurant offers. Each table is essentially a giant cooktop with individual cooking elements for each person. You simply choose the soup broth, meat items and side dishes and then there is a buffet style area to select vegetables and other items to add to the soup. The meat is sliced paper thin to prevent waste, but since it is all-you-can-eat, you can order as much as you like. It took a little while for the waiter to come over but once he took our order, everything went well. My only complaint is the music was loud eighties rock music that IMO did not fit the venue.

On this cold wet Monday at 7pm no wait, first timers came to eat. We scanned the menu orders hot pot only $19.99 is amazing lookong there is limited options for soup base but honestly it’s just to cook your veggies and protein and noodles , the sauce to dip consist of oyster sauce, soy sauce and fish sauce, hot sauces and sesame oil green onion, cilantro, jalapeños, etc. . Many options from fish balls, to dumplings, sea food, variety of noodles to choose from at the buffet. They let you choose 5 meat trays at a time, thin thinly cut, bringing 2-3 slices. Beef, port and chicken. All were good. No trouble getting more servings. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and servers were friendly and helpful. We will be back!

This place is amazing! You really can’t beat the price! My husband and I took advantage of the 20 per person deal for an all you can eat hot pot! So out total was 50 (we tipped). They have the salad bar where you go get your greens and they bring you your meat. You also get side dishes like sesame balls and chicken wings! We were so amazing at all the food we got for the price! The only down side is service was a bit slow when we sat down no one came to check on us but other than that everything was amazing!

I wished they have more greens to choose from. They had only three kinds of greens today. I also wished that they allow customers to have more than one broth, the waitress said I can have another one only if I don’t like the first one. If they don’t want to use two pots or replace the first pot, they can use the hot pot that have divider. The price $19.99 was good for AYCE hot pot.

We had the sushi/hot pot meal. The food bar was loaded with a variety of noodles, tofu, leafy greens, mushrooms, clams, mussels, crab and imitation crab and sauces. In addition, you choose different meats like, beef, pork and chicken.
Also choose from a variety of broths.
Appetizers were soy and honey chicken wings, egg rolls, sesame balls, French fries and more.
Prices were reasonably for all you can eat.
