Sounds like all the low rated reviews are based on their service. I’ve never had an issue with their service.
I have ordered from Cheng’s Garden for years now and never had an issue.
So why the 2-star review, now? Well, dang, let me explain.
My latest experience probably should give them a 1-star review but I won’t do that.
My issue is that I ordered their meal that was the “boneless rib” dish. I figured when I ordered “boneless ribs” that I would get meat that had been taken off the bone. I’m sure that you readers would think that as well, right?
Nope! I got about a pound and a half of pork skin and fat. Essentially the waste from what you’d get after scraping pork ribs, while the restaurant obtained the meat customers actually want for another dish. Sure, what I am eating now tastes nice, at least it does when drowned in sweet in sour sauce.
But what on Earth? When I order “boneless ribs,” I don’t expect to get JUST the pork skin off of ribs that are served to someone else.
Honestly deserves a 1-star rating. But I’m giving a 2-star rating because this pound and a half of pork skin, that was labeled as “boneless ribs,” at least tastes good.
You can see from the photo that the “boneless rib” “meat” I got is literally pork skin. It is all the thickness of what is on my fork in that picture, and what is on my fork in that picture is actually pretty thick compared to the other pound and a half of the “meat” I received.
May as well sell the “boneless rib” dish as “cooked Chicharrones“ because I could have received the same nutritional value from a 7/11 as long as I picked up a bag of out-of-date pig skins.

If I could give this place a -5 review I would. I originally called to confirm they were open and the lady was berating me on the phone to place the order online. I placed an order at 330 pm and it said it would take one hour. I called back after 430 to confirm if the order was confirmed or not. They just kept asking me where I had placed the order through and that I placed it with the website. I then called the business phone for the next thirty minutes again and again to try and get through and nothing but the line saying it was disconnected. At this point, I had already spent $50 on food that should’ve been there a half hour before. I left my house to go to the location in hopes that it would be maybe there or we could get clarification- the restaurant wasn’t even there anymore! I finally called another location hoping it may be refunded back to me. I was trying to get the refund. On my way home I found out the food was dropped off. I’ve eaten here before many of times and probably the lowest quality food I’d ever eaten there. I kept being told they would call me back and resolve the issue. The woman on the phone said I should’ve returned the food if I didn’t want it. In no business practice in a restaurant should a guest have to return the food after they demanded a refund, after waiting three hours for the food. I’ll be happy to delete this review once I see the refund on my account. If the manager wants to email me, they certainly can.
EDIT: I never ever leave reviews because I too have worked in this industry and can understand the pressures. I began scrolling through all the reviews and they sound so similar to mine. Yes the woman hung up on me too. Yes the woman on the phone was unprofessional, yes the food was subpar and low quality.
Do better.

We ordered online and added the tip when we ordered. They added an additional tip to our order and said the online “tip” wasn’t a tip, but a delivery fee. It was clearly labeled as a tip online. Our order was delivered 30 minutes later than quoted. Food was good, but not worth what we ended up paying.

Terrible delivery service. Ordered online said it would take 30 minutes. I thought that was pretty reasonable. Then after an hour went by I called to check the status and they said the driver was “on the way”. I understand food service takes a little longer, no big deal. Then another hour passed before my food showed up for my entire family, cold. Never ordering from this location again. Never had a problem with the SE 14th location. $45 worth of food delivered cold, plus I got lied to. I live 10 minutes away from this location, shouldn’t have taken an hour if the driver was on the way. What a shame.

I’m not sure why all the poor reviews- this is for the Merle Hay store. We’ve been coming here for years and have never had a problem. The service is always quick, the food delicious, and always correct. I’ve never once had my credit card used fraudulently and that’s how we always pay. The food is always hot, as they make it when you order. The only thing I don’t recommend about this place is eating in, there isn’t much in the way of seating. It’s a family run business. I love seeing the kids playing and knowing that I am helping support someone’s dream of owning their own business.

The two stars are due to the customer service which I have no complaints at all. She greeted me and was very helpful. The food however for human beef was the worst I ever had. I’m not sure if I even had 1/4th of it. The beef was very rubbery and no flavor. The vegetables were very watery and no flavor. The egg drop soup was okay. Not amazing but not the worst egg drop soup I’ve had.

I think Cheng’s is probably the best Chinese food in this area – always tasty and always fresh. I am impressed by the consistency in tastyness that comes from here, like it’s the same every time I order.
I recommend the garlic tofu or garlic sauce veggies – always awesome! The veggie fried rice is good, and they’ll sub the egg for tofu instead. I normally pick up, but the times that I’ve gotten delivery it’s been quick.
The staff is very pleasant as well when I come in. Of course there is a bit of a language barrier but I always order online so it’s pretty great!

Great for take out. Our cousin loves spicy food, but has a hard time finding one that is appropriately spicy enough. He ordered a dish marked as spicy and he was happy with it. The non-spicy dishes were good too. They had good flavor and werent too oily.

Seems after reading the reviews I should have order food from somewhere else. Been waiting for over an hour for our delivery after we where told it would be 20-30 minutes. We call and where told the driver was on his way. Been about an hour 30 now and still nothing. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE.

The food was delicious. I wouldn’t recommend using their online ordering system. We ordered and paid online and were advised it would be ready for pick up in 30 minutes. I got there at the pick up time and our order hadn’t been started. She had to search their system to locate our order, it took another 25 minutes before I was able to head back home with our food. The tasty food is the only thing that kept this above 1 star. I would go here again, I just won’t use the online order system.
