Beautiful and clean restaurant with exceptional staff and service. Fantastic selection of authentic Kerala cuisine which I have not seen in Derby before giving me new things to try!
Grabbed the Aalapeaz Special Dosa for lunch today to take away and it was delicious and very reasonably priced.

One of the few times where the good Google reviews are absolutely deserved. This place is amazing. The food was impeccable, the portion sizes were extremely generous, and the service was great as well. I haven’t had keralaian food in years and despite thinking I was familiar with it this was a truly unique experience. I would recommend to anyone in the area to eat here.

We went with a lot of expectation. Located in the city centre. Ambience is good. Service is friendly. Good things end here. Food is mediocre including drinks. Service is extremely slow. Even drinks take ages to arrive. Flavours are subdued. Any Kerala restaurant without paal appam is not worth visiting in my opinion.

I didn’t have much of an idea what to expect – turns out this was a most pleasant surprise! Not only was service friendly and discreet, the food was absolutely amazing! A subtlety and depth of flavours that stands out, dishes clearly freshly prepared, spices combined in such a way I actually tasted something ‘new’! (and I have tried a lot of different cuisines in many different places/countries) Don’t be in a hurry, though, since everything is made to order, it takes a little bit longer to arrive at your table – but it’s definitely worth the wait!

This is a real gem – forget all preconceptions of a ‘curry house’ and read the menu carefully to ensure you’re going to enjoy what you’ve ordered. The food was top notch (despite my other half not liking what she’d chosen as a main – that’s not the restaurants fault). We’d definitely come back the starters & (my) main were superb that careful mix of spice & heat. We arrived about 8.30/9pm on a Saturday although initially a little busy it soon reduced to a few couples. #recommended

This restaurant offers a very good dining experience. I had Kalyana Chor and Paal Porotta with Beef. Both dishes were excellent. The food had an authentic Malayalee taste and truly felt like home cooked food. The service was prompt and the ambience was pleasant. There was no long waiting time, which made the visit comfortable. Overall, it is a good place for those who enjoy traditional Kerala food and quality service. I would definitely recommend this restaurant

Though, perhaps a bit strange, takeaway prices were the same as eating in.

Tried the Chatti Dum Porotta at Aalappeaz and wow it was absolutely amazing! The flavours were rich, perfectly spiced, and tasted so authentic. Every bite felt comforting and indulgent.
On top of that, the service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and made the whole dining experience even better. Aalappeaz is truly a hidden gem in Derby for South Indian food.

A worth experience. We traveled Leicester to Derby to experience the food , it was worth experience. Very soft porotta with beef roast was very yummy . Prawns roast also very yummy. Orderd all dishes was tasty. Our was happy. They have Clean bathroom and nice ambience.
