Our food was really good. I had the Jonah and my husband had the Reuben. I also splurged and had a Maple Bacon Old Fashioned. It was outstanding. We would return when in the area.
However, I brought a other couple with me for dinner the next night and it was not the same. The menu is completely different for dinner, so your appetizers are extremely limited. The prices shoot way up and our sweet potato fries I had boasted about were burned. Then the waitress couldn’t figure out our tickets. So I was being charged $46 for a salad and fries while the couple was being charged $65 for their two entree’s. Anyway, we sent the ticket back three time and then finally the waitress said well it’s just her drink was added to you ticket. So my guest said, well I’ll just give you $8 and it’ll be fine. I go no, it’s still off. “I want a final ticket to look at.” So twenty some minutes later we got out tickets of which mine was still off, but only by $1. Maybe it was her first day, she kept saying the Manager was not there, and was flustered. So we all paid and left. If I go back it will only be for lunch. But again, lunch was totally different , with great service and great meal!
The husband ordered sweet Thai chili- and lemon pepper-seasoned chicken wings with a side of french fries (deep fried in peanut oil I think) and sipped on some Woodford Reserve. I enjoyed Leo’s brisket sandwich (recommended to me by our very attentive server, Matt) with a side of bacon ranch pasta salad. The flavors complemented each other perfectly and the portion sizes were just right.
The restaurant benefits from a full bar and a patio out back for warmer weather and live music. I was surprised to see a mini liquor store when we first walked in. I even questioned if we went to the right place because it doesn’t even appear to be a restaurant. At the checkout counter is a deli where I believe customers can take home choice items.
I’m excited to return during the warmer months to try more food on their menu and enjoy some music on the back patio. It was wonderful to have such a great dining experience on that side of Belleville. It’s providing a much-needed boost to the area.
After tip for two people- an entree, a side, and an alcoholic drink per person; we spent more than $70. I get inflation, but I do wish food this good was more accessible.
Updated note: Returned for my second visit two years later celebrating Father’s Day and my dad said their bleu cheese was the best he’s ever had. Valerie took care of us on this visit and was so friendly and helpful. Eager for my next visit!
We ordered the wonton buffalo wraps as an app and they were delicious.
My mom ordered the pork chop with a loaded baked potato and broccoli. She said it was good although the pork was not cooked completely to her liking.
I also ordered the pork chop but they unfortunately only had one available. So I went with the ribeye with parmesan risotto and brussel sprouts. The ribeye was cooked well but had a very smokey grilled taste and no other seasoning. The risotto was good but undercooked and the brussel sprouts were really good.
Our waiter was nice and attentive.
I will not be going back due to obnoxious noise level. It may have just been due to that party but it was extremely overwhelming.
If you drink, DEFINITELY take recommendations from your server. The bartenders have created some truly awesome drinks, and will make you something really tasty and remarkable. The tap selection isn’t huge, but is very well cultivated.
Staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and fun.
