First, this isn’t a restaurant, its JUST CARRY OUT, no indoor seating whatsoever. The order counter is completely on the opposite side of the building that Hardesty Liquors is. The menu is limited, but the food was made well, the kitchen was clean and the food reflected that. The service was good, took about 20 minutes for our 2 sub order to prepare, which we ate in our truck before heading on down the road. We’ll probably stop by again when in the mood for subs and driving by, but next time I’ll call ahead so we can just grab & go.

Hey LISTEN… and HEAR ME WELL‼️If you are ever traveling along the route 301 corridor (north or south), then do your tummy some justice. Stop in to Hardesty’s Carryout to get rid of your hunger pangs. They are located in the corner of routes 301 south and 257… directly across the street from the big antique store on route 301(look for Elvis, batman and the big dinosaur).
Now that I have your attention, you just gotta stop into this little corner spot. Great location, so you can keep your travels going in either direction once you snatch up your delicious grub. I love the location because it’s just about 10 miles from the Harry Nice bridge so you grab a bite before heading out on your travels to Richmond, Virginia Beach and beyond. Whether it’s a quick road snack or something to take home locally, Hardesty’s has got you covered.
I have passed this place looking and wondering for too long. Now,
I have gone back to this independent roadside jackpot 3 times because it’s just that tasty. I’ve tried the chicken tenders, steak n cheese, wings, fries, onion rings and desserts that are locally prepared and delivered to the store. I’m trying the pizza next. Everything so far has hit the spot and came in clutch when I needed a quick bite to keep me. Food tastes clean and flavorful. Put it this way. It’s my local cheat hub, because I usually don’t eat like this (fast/fried) on a regular.There are also plenty of cold bevies (drinks) to quench your thirst & wash things down. If that’s not your cup then, how convenient that they are attached to a liquor store on the other side. You can’t lose!
The restaurant owner and some part time staff run the place with purpose. The spot is clean too. The owner is very nice with a kind smile and down to earth.
If you don’t trust my tummy, then bring some friends or family and pop in to see for yourself. I believe you’ll enjoy.

A little heavy on the cheese for me. But delicious pizza and if you don’t already make breadsticks out of your crust. The garlic butter on it was perfect.

We ordered pizza to go. The lady who served us was very kind to me and my autistic son. During the wait, she interacted with my son and even let him use her little blackboard, which was a very nice gesture on her part. The pizza is delicious. We will definitely stop by here again every time we are on our route.

We have been sampling this place over the last couple weeks and very impressed. It is classic sort of bar style food, wings, tenders, burgers, etc — all very good. Deep fried stuff tastes great, they take care of their oil.
The grilled cheese really stands out, it is straight up great. Cooked perfectly on that flattop.
Prices are excellent as well. 5/5 Exactly what you would expect from a little corner carrier out place.

So as you can tell from my review rankings I’m a bit of a foodie. Always want to try a new place and hole in the wall.I generally judge the nastier it looks but constantly packed/traffic. That’s someplace I want to eat. Granted I drive by this place during working hours. But I managed to catch them shortly before close. And let me tell you! We ordered a fried shrimp and mozzarella and IT WAS AMAZING. Stopped in to grab a menu a week ago and was impressed by the cleanliness of the kitchen. Got fried stuff tonight which isn’t my style and no greasiness.no old oil taste typical of diner food. Fry was light and super crispy! Perfectly cooked. Only thing I wish (and I see in the future) is a small 2 or 3 table dining area. Small space limits that but maybe some outdoor seating could be in the future with a few staff. Will definitely be going back to taste everything over the next few months! Mr owner guy who’s name I forgot already…. well done sir!
