Not giving it an overall 3 stars because the place used to be the perfect dive, but was then sold, cleaned up and more gentrified. It was a sad day for many locals, and out of towners who came in for that type of ambiance as well as the famous mud slide, or a the two dollar drafts served up by a burly female bartender with a heart of gold and the strength of Andre the giant.

We have been coming to Montauk for years but always go to the main area not west lake. Tonight we did and what a mistake! We received nasty looks from all the local patrons and the bartender yelled at my husband for ordering red wine! If you want to feel uncomfortable and get treated poorly then this is the place for you. We usually love hanging with and talking to the locals out here as in the main area of town they’re so welcoming. But here at Marlena’s the locals were rude and wanted us out! Def a different vibe on the west lake area. Steer clear!!!

We’ve loved Marlena’s since it opened. The casual vibe, the welcoming atmosphere for families with children, and friendly staff make it extra special! Yesterday, our 17 month old grandson arrived to join the group and was not at all happy…right away the owner showered him with bubbles to make him smile.
