I’m a big fan of purple patch down the street so I had to try their burger place. Their burgers are good and solidly sized. I like when my burgers have a little something extra to them. We also got the loaded fries.

A Wagyu Burger double patty is all you need to get. The burger was juicy (difficult to find in smash burgers) and not greasy. The toppings complemented the burger perfectly. I was worried that the veggies and the sauce would make the burger too wet but it was not the case. It was delicious. Definitely making it to my top burgers in DC.
The place is small with a couple of chairs outside. Burger is worth it!

Joia Burger is so good! The fried burgers were super tasty, and the ube ice cream with toasted coconut was amazing. Such a fun little spot in Mt. Pleasant, definitely worth stopping by.

I was excited to try Joia Burger and Fries because the idea of their unique toppings and sauces sounded promising. However, the execution didn’t quite meet expectations. The sauces, made with diced vegetables, had too much moisture, which made the buns and fries soggy. On top of that, both the burger and fries were overly salty, which overwhelmed the other flavors.
The staff were not particularly friendly—service felt indifferent at best. The space is also quite small and cramped, and I couldn’t find a customer restroom available, which was inconvenient.
It’s an interesting concept, but there’s definitely room for improvement in both food quality and customer experience.

Following online very good reviews went there tonight even though I am usually not that much into smash burgers.
Joia definitely proved me I was wrong. Even though there’s only one burger on the menu with no possible extras, their smashed wagyu beef patty (had the double patty version) is a killer. The perfectly cooked tasty smashed meat, the unusual toppings, the bun, the assorted “Joia” fries … everything was absolutely great.
Not to mention the very lovely staff and the fact it was a really quiet place.
Indefinitely recommend the place!

One of the clearly most delicious and inventive burgers in the DMV. So delicious, I immediately ordered and devoured a second one.
It’s an American Wagyu smash burger topped with American cheese & their chef’s special sauce mixed with diced lettuce, tomato, onion & pickle, served on potato buns.
The meat is smashed super thin, almost like a burger wafer and it was perfect. And the cheese was just right, especially with the tangy almost slaw-like mix of lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle.
Service was fast and friendly, and while there isn’t much room inside, there’s a parklet with more seating outside.
Can’t wait to have another one!

Best burger in DC, absolutely the best burger I’ve had in years. Fries were perfectly crispy even though they were loaded. The sauce is amazing. Patties were 10/10. One with the gluten free bun was just as good. Staff was fast and extremely friendly.

The smash burgers here are excellent! They come with a chopped up mix of tomato, lettuce, pickle, onion and burger sauce which is great because you can get some in every bite without pulling out the whole piece of tomato or onion. The lace of the burger was great and the cheese to meat ratio was good. I’d recommend sharing a side of fries since they are big. Easily the best burger I’ve had in DC and the best smash burger I’ve ever had.

How can a burger really be special? Well, it’s got the basics like bread, meat, and your favorite toppings, but what really sets Joia apart is their creativity. I was blown away by their lettuce and tomato sauce combo. Instead of layering them separately, they mix them together, which is a total game-changer! Not only was the burger excellent, the service was SO fast. By the time I took my seat, I was served with fresh, crispy fries and a juicy smash burger. Definitely will be back!
