We were totally excited to have a “Fine Dining Experience ” during our visit from Portugal. What a disappointment.
We were greeted on entry by the host on arrival who seemed a little confused about our reservation. He seated us at a small table just inside the entry door where a cold blast of air permeated my back and legs each time the door opened. We asked to be seated elsewhere and were advised that was not possible. The host gave me a thin shawl which was useless.
Service was poor and very slow. On several occasions we had to ask where our drinks orders were. We also had to request the table be cleared of used glasses and dishes.
The menu was also a disappointment. Not as seen on line. Small plates were of no great consequence. What saved our much anticipated meal were the “large plates” they were very tasty? but not different or original as we expected.
Overall our experience was a huge expensive disappointment.
Be prepared for a big bill for not a unique experience.

I had been wanting to try this place for some time since I went to Georgia Boy and really enjoyed it. I came without a reservation but was easily able to be seated on a Thursday evening. I ordered the Foie Gras and Pasta with lamb bacon. Everything was delicious. I will definitely be back.

Absolutely incredible! Everything we tried was delicious, complex and well developed food profiles. We started with small plates, moved to bigger, and finished with the biggest. Each got better and better. Comfortable, cozy atmosphere and the service was top notch. We had the Chips Dip and Caviar, Chicken Liver Pate, Caramelized Onion Grit Cake, Pan Seared Scallops, Pan Seared Carolina Trout, and Root Beer Braised Wagyu Beef Short Rib. Oh…and the Pistachio + Yogurt Cake. Simply amazing.

I visited Southern Belle right before the menu change when it was a mystery menu of things brought to your table. The food was EXQUISITE. It was beautifully plated and tasted fantastic. We even decided to pay additional for a steak entree and it was delicious. I did the non alcoholic beverage pairing and every single drink went perfectly together with the courses. You do not want to miss Southern Belle if you visit Atlanta.

Our reservation ended being on a night in which they had a lot of late diners due to ATL weather and traffic. We waited to be seated for 45 minutes at a dive bar a few doors down. The hostess could tell we were not at all happy. BUT, this is where the story gets great. Once we were finally seated, and the hostess always kept a smile, our waiter showed up quickly and also with a great attitude. He also apologized and told us our first drinks would be on the house which immediately lightened our mood. He walked us through the menu, and everything we ordered was amazing! The cassoulet was slap yo momma good, as we say in the south! The next huge surprise came at the end when we got the bill. They also removed our 2 appetizers from the bill as a thanks for being patient with them. The companies that truly get it in service realize that issues will arise, but it’s how you recover that can make all the difference. They truly get it at Southern Belle. We’ll be back for sure, and you should go too if in The A!

I’d like to preface this review by saying that we had previously enjoyed the Chef’s Tasting Menu experience at Georgia Boy & was blown away! So we were very eager to return back & try Southern Belle. I’m really bummed to say that it was an underwhelming meal. We ordered most of the menu, 10 dishes & 3 cocktails in total. 2 were great (ceviche & short ribs were delicious!), 4 were good, 2 were average, & 2 we wouldn’t order again (the fancy cheese toast was a huge miss for us in texture & taste & the Brussels dish was a salt bomb with the chicken ham/chicken skins/white sauce & Brussels all being salty individually & overwhelmingly together). IMHO, instead of gently coaxing out the delicate flavors of the high-quality ingredients so they shined, on a few of the dishes the flavors became muddled & overseasoned. There are great ideas to be found at Southern Belle but execution is inconsistent. This was the case with the only dessert on the menu, the sticky toffee pudding, that’s made table side. Had the ice cream been churned to the correct consistency, this could have been a nice way to end the meal. Instead it became soupy & unappetizing very quickly. Service was fantastic though! Our server, Brittney, & everyone else we encountered were very friendly & knowledgeable about the menu! Ambience was also a huge plus. Quirky with loads of attention paid to the smallest details, it was a fun space for a date night. Definitely worth a try, just unsure about a return visit because of the inconsistency.

I decide to get my friends to try a different spot over the weekend and to our surprise this was one secretly amazing spot. Four course test menu deliciously well prepared and great presentation, amazing ambiance and quality of service. But above all the food was just amazing. We didn’t do the wine peering with food but everything that was brought to our table was just amazing and we all enjoyed it. For sure to come back here again. I would recommend the 90-Day- Aged Ribeye. Our next try is Georgia Boy which is their sister restaurant.

Cheers,

BN

Wow. Loved the food, the staff, the ambiance…everything! We did the 7-course tasting menu at Southern Belle and were very impressed. The perfect blend of fine dining cuisine with a casual enough atmosphere to feel warm and inviting.
We can’t wait to check out Georgia Boy’s chef’s table experience whenever that opens back up.
So glad they survived the pandemic!

This place is beyond a restaurant… I’m hesitant to say too much because I think the element of surprise is one of the best factors. Over the course of a few hours, we had around 14 tastings of some of the most incredible food for around $150 per person before tax and tip (opting for a few cocktails rather than the wine pairing) and it was worth every penny. The entire experience includes different textures, surprising flavor combos, waves of nostalgia, and molding a group of strangers into friends throughout the evening. Sharing food pics only but holding back on descriptions because the surprise is worth it

Wow! Amazing little space with fantastic decor featuring strong southern women. Two beautifully decorated bathrooms and a sweet bar. The menu design is really stunning, which punchy quotes at each “chapter” throughout. We came for girls night and it did NOT disappoint! There was also a really eclectic mix of diners there, great crowd. AMAZING gluten free dessert was offered (off menu) by the waiter, who had celiac and was great about explaining all the dishes you can eat. Overall, highly recommend!
