Phenomenal!! My residents and I stopped on our way back to Dallas from the casino and we were so glad we did! Not a single person was disappointed. The service was spot on, food was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Every bite was so good. We will definitely be stopping back through there again!!

Every small Texas town boasts that one restaurant where the locals swear “it’s the best around.” In Valley View, that’s Tia’s Tex-Mex & BBQ — a name that promises smoky brisket and bold border flavors. Unfortunately, on my recent visit, the experience felt more like a dress rehearsal than opening night.

First Impressions & Drinks
The evening started with a wait — not for a table, but for a drink. When my margarita finally arrived, it looked the part but tasted thick and syrupy, as though someone mistook “mix” for “mash.” It wasn’t undrinkable, but it was far from the crisp, balanced refreshment a Texas margarita should be.

Appetizers & What Wasn’t
We first ordered the “Twinkle Jalapeños” — a promising name that hinted at something playful and spicy — only to learn they were out. Fine. Plan B: the brisket elote. Again, no brisket. So, we settled for plain elote, which turned out to be just that — plain. More “corn cup” than “street corn.” It lacked the creamy, smoky punch that makes true elote worth chasing down a food truck for.

Entrée: The Fajita Fix
We decided to split the combo fajitas, expecting steak, chicken, and shrimp — the Tex-Mex holy trinity. What arrived was a duo: steak and chicken only. No shrimp in sight. To make matters worse, the guacamole that typically crowns the platter was also unavailable.

Still, the plate wasn’t a total loss. The steak had a nice char and decent flavor. The chicken, however, was dry — a crime against the sizzling skillet. There was no shortage of peppers and onions, though, which filled the void both visually and texturally.

The Verdict
Tia’s isn’t without potential. The vibe is casual, the staff friendly, and the location convenient for travelers passing through Valley View. But between the missing menu items and uninspired execution, it felt more like a restaurant finding its footing than one ready for prime time.

Would I return? Not in a hurry. But if I were in the area, hungry, and craving fajitas that at least try to deliver, I might give Tia’s another shot — with a cold beer this time, just to be safe.

Overall Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5)
Plenty of charm, but short on delivery.

We had dinner for the first time and the beef tacos are one of the best places I have ever tried! The beef was so tender! It also took one margaritas to have me feeling a little crazy! The waiter was so friendly I can’t remember his name. he was a young Hispanic guy. He was amazing! Don’t sleep on this place!

We had stopped by after most Mexican Restaurants in the area were closed and lets say we were very surprised with how delicious the food was. Service was great but the best part for sure was the Tias Smoked Platter. Oh boy, te meat on the ribs just slipped off, the brisket was tender, the chicken was super juicy. Just everything was absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend this location.

Best chips in Cooke County. The salsa has a really good flavor. My husband loved it. It was a little too spicy for me. It would be nice to have a milder option for us lightweights. We ordered fajitas and brisket flautas. The flavor was delicious. Hands down the best fajitas I’ve had in a long time. The flautas were huge and the flavor was amazing. My husband said next time he thought he might see if he could get three different flavors instead of all three the same flavor but he ate every single one of them! The rice and beans were very good. The guacamole had a bit too much citrus and onions in it for my taste but I like my guacamole pretty plain. It tasted amazing in the fajita. I can’t wait to go back and try something else.

The atmosphere was nice. You can tell from the outside it used to be a Dairy Queen but the inside is modern, casual and comfortable. I love the mural on the wall.

Stopped here by accident…. and Man!!!!
I am glad I stopped. Staff is really nice and attentive. I had Karina as my waitress. She was very sweet in meeting my needs, like my drinks and extra salsas. Thank you, Karina. Also the kitchen staff were excellent. I ordered a Taco Salad and it was great!!!. For the price, this Taco Salad was huge. it had enough beef, lettuce, and condiments for the salad. It has been the best Taco Salad I have ever had. Lots of flavor. The picture of the taco salad may look small. It is easily 13 inches long and about 4 inches wide in the bottom, and you can see in the picture i widen up on top. You won’t regret it. Oh Yeah!!! They are fast in having your order out you!!! The draft was also cheap. 3.25 a draft. I was impressed. I am not the type to go to TexMex restaurants. I just don’t like them. But Tias Tex-Mex BBQ, I will make an exception. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the food just adds to the pleasure. I Highly Recommend Coming Here. Doesn’t look much from the outside, but it makes up on the inside. 5 Stars hands down… You guys are awesome!!!!!!!!!!

Such a great little spot located in the local Shell station. Counter service was fantastic and helpful when placing my order. I can’t wait to dig into this burrito. I thought it would be small but bring your appetite with you, these burritos will fill you up. The meat in my asada taco was juicy, and full of flavor. The salsa is amazing! I’ll be back for more!

Simply the BEST Mexican food I’ve ever had! This “hole in the wall” is best kept secret! Food is delicious, rich with taste, hot, freshly made. The white queso is so good! The homemade salsas are perfect taste and flavor! My favorite item are the chicken quesadillas (see pics). They are made with a white queso. Tortillas are fresh. The other item we had are the carne asada tacos. So tasty and fresh! The churros, OMG, melt in your mouth from freshness. Inside the churros you find cajeta. A must try even if you’re a healthy eater! You will not regret eating here!
