If you are in the area, this is a must go to check it out place. The food and staff are amazing. No kidding you got to eat here. The variety and possibilities are huge. The flavor is bold and fresh cooked to order. Today I ordered one of the daily specials, Habanero Chicken Popper sandwich and a side of fried green tomatoes and it was delicious. Full disclosure, the food I would consider the food to be on the higher end of the food spectrum, and it is but the environment, it is is an old school or college that still operates but not high end if that’s what your into. If so, I still recommend you try this place because the food more than makes up for anything else your heart desires with a meal. Also, it is a bit expensive but I have never left here disappointed.

We stumbled upon this excellent restaurant while driving through Gainesville recently. It is located in a local college so we weren’t sure what to expect, but it smelled good so we decided to give it a try. So glad we did, these were the best burgers we’ve ever had! They were cooked perfectly inside while remaining juicy and the outside was seared to create a crisp edge. The toppings were so tasty we didn’t even need any additional condiments and the buns were toasted on the grill. We opted for the side of sweet potato fries which did not disappoint and took home some of their homemade Brunswick stew which was delicious as well. As this restaurant is set up cafeteria style the seating is in an adjacent room is more like a conference room than restaurant and the bathrooms were located and in a slightly darkish hallway being as it’s part of the school. The staff were friendly and accommodating and we look forward to returning in the near future.

The food is incredible. Service was great. The atmosphere has improved tremendously as the owner has had to work within the confines of the building. This has appropriately been called a “hole in the wall”, but the food is well worth the trip. Hop’s Kitchen is a must whenever we come into town.

Why am I just now finding out about this place and when they are about to close? Went in for lunch today- I was thinking “uhh – cafeteria? Interesting place ” but the food was what blew me away. The vegetarian sandwich- the ATL was the best I ever had! And the fries are better than 5 guys. Yep. It’s true. I really hate to see this place go- the sandwiches are really made with love- you can tell that. I hope they find another location or even open up a food truck or something. Give them all the support you can before they close!

I got the southern gentleman burger. It would have been perfect if it hadn’t been cooked to death. Fries were also cooked to death. Cashier was friendly and welcoming. Terrible location and the dining room is really bad… big , but just bad. No booster seats or high chairs for children. Not even a kids burger on their kids menu. If they started asking what cook temp you want your burger, I would definitely go back again. Also no combos. Everything is sold separately which is pricey on top of already pricey menu items. Fix kids menu and lack of highchairs, ask temp of cook on burgers, and offer combos or meals w a drink included and this place would be fire! So much potential!!!

Don’t get thrown off too much about the mid atmosphere score. It was perfectly fine just kinda weird setup is all. Go there and you’ll see what I mean.
The great food and great staff that I had more than made up for any of that though.
I had the fried green tomatoes BLT and DANG. So good. My friend had a pimento cheeseburger and really enjoyed it.
I’ll definitely be going back to try more of their menu, though it’s gonna be real tough to skip that BLT…

Personable staff, delicious food. The BEST bread ever. Just no comparison. These are gourmet sandwiches – try one, you will not be disappointed! Some awesome co-workers brought me to this hidden gem for my birthday lunch and I will be forever grateful!
I had their toasted BLT and the bread was the perfect combination of crunchy and soft, and SUCH flavor! The bacon – which they make in-house! – was the perfect texture and flavor and it was no ordinary tomato, no, they put a FRIED GREEN TOMATO on there. Y’all…incredible taste and perfect texture too.
I had a side of sweet potato fries with my order. They add just a touch of cayenne to give them a great sweet/spicy combo. I ate them with some yummy ranch.
The banh mi my coworker had was enormous and looked so good – she told me to try that next time. And oh, there will be a next time.
I think this little place tucked away behind INK and Brenau’s Featherbone Communiversity is seriously one of the best kept secrets in Gainesville!

The American burger was perfect!! It was cooked just right, very tasty and juice. The Cuban sandwich was spot on. The fries were hand cut and seasoned. We will be back for more!!

This place is a hidden gem. I would have never known it was here if it wasn’t for my mom telling me about it and I’m glad she did. The Italian sandwich I got was generously portioned and melt in your mouth tasty. The fries were fresh and tasty as well. Prices were reasonable and the staff was nice. Do your self a favor if you are in the area and check out this unassuming little spot, you won’t regret it.
