I placed my order at 3:30 on a Tuesday for a 5pm pick up (with the time confirmed over the phone, they even said ‘see you at 5!’). When I arrived at 5:10, the person at the register had me pay and tip, and then mentioned the food would be ready in a couple minutes. By 5:20, a man who I assume is the owner walked up and checked on me since everyone before and after me had already been served. I mentioned the pick up time and when I placed the order, and he brought the register lady to the back and she angrily said it was written down for 5:30. (This lady had the same voice as well I spoke to, but she was definitely blaming the guy making the pizza, she was not quiet AT ALL so it was easy to hear it).
Not for nothing, if she had been honest from the start, I would have left as we were having a fake Christmas dinner for my now deceased MIL (brain cancer loss just before Christmas) who loves these pizzas, but because of this delay, I would have just made food ourselves, and we could’ve spent more time with her vs sitting in a restaurant waiting for the ‘couple more minutes’ to be done.
So by the time 5:30 comes and the pizza still isn’t done, the owner gave us a tiramisu on the house to try to make up for the mistake, and at this point he mentioned the time error. Unfortunately none of us like coffee so they was thrown away. (No judgement here, as I know it’s common for restaurants to comp a dessert during an error, just wish they gave us a choice instead of doing it for us, which tiramisu that was noted to eat the next day since the lady fingers wouldn’t have set yet (literally made that day).
5:35 I finally get the food and I assume they must have cranked up the oven heat because the bottom crust was burned and the cheese was hardly melted.
I get that mistake happen, but just be honest and don’t play games like this. I have gone here many times and never had an issue, but the first mistake made, followed by the continued issues have made it so I don’t want to return. Luckily there’s a ton of pizza places around so it’s not too hard to find a replacement, it’s just unfortunate that this is how it went down.
Special shout out to, “Elita”…Her sweet personality and efficient work ethics did not go unnoticed and were greatly appreciated. Next time we’re in town, this is a must for us!
