Love Salt and Light Asian Cuisine! Been coming here for years and the food and service is consistent and great quality, for dine in and takeout. Unbeatable price for healthy, filling lunch specials available until 3/3:30pm. The owner is the sweetest woman of God and I love seeing our local students employed in the customer service industry. There is Christian artwork on all of the walls and they play worship music. Love putting my money here!

We went to Salt&Light for Sushi as soon as we landed in Gonzales because we were starving, and WOW — the food and hospitality were phenomenal. We met the owner, Shelly, who is originally from China, and she was so warm and welcoming. For the first time ever, we were served fresh wasabi instead of the usual paste, and it was incredible.
Our server, Dashay, was absolutely lovely — such a kind, attentive, and wonderful young woman. We had hot sake, Kirin draft beer, a spicy tuna roll, and a hamachi (yellowtail and scallion) roll — all fantastic. We also ordered tempura; the batter was a little thick for my taste, but the sauces were amazing.
My favorite was the ama ebi (sweet shrimp) — especially with the fried shrimp head, which was delicious. We had the best date night with wonderful service and incredible food. I can see why this is Parker’s favorite sushi spot in Gonzales. We will definitely be back!

Tried a couple of different rolls. Cucumber roll was excellent. The vegetable and beef bowl with noodles was very good. Plenty of food for the money. Overall a good 1st impression. Worth another visit.

I’m sorry, but I just can’t get into it. It’s not bad…but it’s not great either. The price point doesn’t reflect this. Probably more geared toward the rolls and hibachi types, not much here for someone wanting a “new experience”.
Miso soup and Crystal Salmon is not recommended. Something doesn’t work with the Crystal Salmon…thinking it is the choice of the aggressively spiced eel sauce glaze or the addition of fresh jalapeños giving it a sharp, bitter taste. In this case, the salmon tasted cleanly fishy…an indicator of less-than-fresh product.
The Mapo Tofu was good. Not great, but better than other local attempts.
Service was attentive and pleasant!
Sorry, y’all. Support local…but I’ve got to go mediocre on this one.

I’ve been coming since before Covid and they have always had the best food and service. My favorite is the hibachi but my friends and family always switch it up because they love their rolls, teriyaki chicken and hibachi. This is my favorite restaurant and I can’t recommend it enough.

Excellent service from friendly employees (shout-out to Novia). The “Asian cuisine” part of their name is appropriate as you will find Japanese, Thai, and Chinese dishes. The sushi was enjoyable, and the Thai Basil Chicken was flavorful; the Banana Cheesecake was delicious. The hot green tea was just the perfect beverage to have. They have so many good dishes on their menu to be enjoyed. The dining room was clean and nice with the ceiling lights that change colors. There was uplifting music playing in the background. There’s ample parking outside and it’s easy to notice their restaurant from the road.

This was my first visit and I was happy with what I ordered. The fried green beans were amazing, and the lunch portion of the hibachi chicken was huge. Not a huge fan of the ginger dressing for the salad, but everything else made up for it.

Great sushi, however the rolls don’t stay together sometimes. That is my only complaint. Otherwise, their flavors and freshness are amazing! And my son is in love with that sushi boat!! The service is always great too!!

I had always wanted to come to eat here when it first opened and I finally had the chance to do that earlier this month when I went grocery shopping.
The month before that I ordered the green tea ice cream and the tempura ice cream and had them delivered to my house. The green tea ice cream had a stronger flavor than the others I’ve had before, but I fell in love with the tempura ice cream! I have to get it again!
The day I finally went there for lunch my stomach acted up but that didn’t stop me from taking the Shrimp Tempura to go. So I was able to eat it after my shopping was done as I waited for my Uber driver to bring me home. It was the best idea I had that day!
The restaurant was clean and spacious, and the waitress was polite and attentive to me. The atmosphere was quiet and serene. I have to come here again.

I asked the server for a recommendation. The two dishes were the General Tso chicken and the Honey Walnut Shrimp because those were the most popular. I chose the Honey Walnut Shrimp. Too sweet, too rubbery, and it ruined the dish. Not executed very well. This was $20.
Appetizer was the Fried Cheese Wontons with a spicy chili sauce. The sauce had a nice kick to balance the sweetness of the wontons. Wontons are lightly batter with a nice crunch. I would order these again.
As of now, I am giving this place 3 stars until I return and try something else.
