On both our visits, we enjoyed a margarita pizza with mushrooms — and it was really good the first time, and appreciably better the next time we went. We also had a beet salad which was quite ample and so full of fun stuff; we especially liked the addition of the fried shallots and garlic.
On our second (dinner) visit, we had the local catch which was ahi served in our poke appetizer and in a Singaporean style curry for our main.
The ahi poke was truly outstanding and the raw fish was so flavorful and tender. The main dish ahi was lightly seared (perfect for our taste) and the curry sauce tasted so fresh and delicious.
We so enjoyed our dinner, that we ordered the Haupia with whipped cream, and lilikoi sauce. The coconut pudding would have been just as delicious with only the sauce as it was really tasty.
For the price and for this area, this place is a big winner.
We waited about 20 minutes to be seated, and there isn’t much of a designated waiting area so you’re essentially hanging out on the front porch. On a dry, sunny day that might be part of the charm, but in the rain and chill it’s not the most comfortable setup. They do have outdoor seating, though again, it’s definitely better suited for clear skies.
Once we were seated inside, the experience completely turned around. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and service was quick without feeling rushed. I ordered the Mai Tai which was well balanced and pleasantly strong without being overpowering. My husband went with one of their IPAs and was equally happy with his choice.
We shared the Parmesan garlic fries and the Pig and Fire pizza, and both were excellent. The fries come topped with an aioli which isn’t something you see everywhere, but it worked really well and added a creamy richness to the garlic and cheese. The pizza had a great balance of smoky, savory flavors with just enough heat to keep it interesting.
Overall, not the coziest spot to wait out a storm, but once you’re inside, it’s a solid place for good beer, strong cocktails, and satisfying food. On a sunnier day, I imagine it would feel even more enjoyable.
The food was incredible — the Fish Bites were perfectly crispy and flavorful, the Beet Salad was super fresh, and both pizzas (the Bee’s Knees and Pipikaula) were absolutely delicious. We also appreciated that even the little things, like the sodas, were served cold and with care.
The service was just as great as the food. The staff made us feel genuinely welcome, checked in at the right times, and had a friendly, down-to-earth vibe that made the whole experience feel comfortable and relaxed.
As visitors, we couldn’t have asked for a better spot to enjoy dinner in Volcano. We left full, happy, and already talking about how we’d come back again. Highly recommend this place to anyone in the area!
Overall the service was very slow. We stood outside for a half hour waiting for a table and then waited another 20 minutes sitting at the table waiting to order. I would have left if I wasn’t so hungry.
The staff was full of smiles and once we placed our order things did improve. I guess we just arrived at the wrong time.
Came in for lunch after a 3hr drive. Ordered food and found out they were out of Coke. So I went out to grab one I had in my car. Then was berated by the waiter saying no outside drinks. I asked if they could go to the attached convenience store (literally the same building) and get a coke that I would happily purchase from them. He said “NO. Not my rules. Im just the messenger”
To make it worse was the water had no ice and was Luke warm so you couldn’t drink it either! Then another couple comes in with a giant thermos filled with something and the same waiter didn’t say ANYTHING! They could have had beer, soda, vodka, whatever and they were allowed.
So apparently they dont like labeled drinks?
Had I known I’d have to choke down my food dry with only warm water, we would not have ordered.
The inconsistency and lack of effort to make things right for a paying customer was unacceptable. A little accommodation — even just offering ice — could have salvaged the experience. Instead, we left frustrated and disappointed.
The pesto pizza was very spicy for a pesto. Fries were bland. Burger was ok, whatever I could choke down without a drink.
