This is our quick-and-easy sushi spot in the 88 Ranch plaza, and honestly, it never disappoints. Super chill vibes, good prices, and if you pay cash, you even get a discount (yes please!). I got the salmon skin salad and it was large and in charge. My kiddo went to town on the bento box, so it’s officially in the rotation. Fast, friendly, and totally solid when you need your sushi fix.

4.5 Stars. Quiet, cozy restaurant. Friendly staff. Very good food and LOTS to choose from. Personally, I think the menus are overwhelming. I almost always order the bentos or sashimi over rice. GoGo Japan doesn’t offer katsudon, tonkatsu, or a few other traditional Japanese dishes I like. A few years back I tried the yakisoba. Big mistake. For traditional Japanese sushi rolls I go to Kyoto’s Japanese Market off Greenbrier in Oceanside. On Fridays and Saturdays. Very authentic. As for GoGo Japan, it’s one of the only Tri-City area restaurants I will frequent for Japanese-style food.

I sat at the sushi counter and ordered a plum wine from the server but received a Chardonny instead. I looked at the menu but didn’t see any alcoholic beverages, although there were beer signs in the window. For a house Chardonny it was decent so I kept it. Next up was a good seaweed salad that halfway through I discovered watercress. Although it had similar dressing, it was a disappointment that seaweed wasn’t throughout the entire salad. I ordered 3 pieces of Tuna Tataki Sashmi (1/2 order) which is normally seared tuna. It came in not seared, not seasoned, but it was fresh, and I asked for ponzu sauce. The radishes that garnished the plate were fanciful and normally can be eaten, but it seems like the flavor was off like it was not rinsed off properly. The tuna was in large chunks, so for the most part, I used the chopsticks to sever the pieces for dipping. The server came back, so I ordered a salmon skin roll. The sushi chef handed it to me. The flavor was good & the dish was warm, but I could taste the oil on the salmon skin. I believe that the temperature wasn’t high enough when it was cooked and/or the oil needed to be changed out. Overall, it tasted good, just I didn’t like tasting the traces of oil on some pieces. Next, I ordered an eel & avocado roll. As you can see, it looked almost like the salmon skin roll. I have never had an eel roll like that. It usually has the eel on top with eel sauce. I think nigiri should have been ordered instead. My complaint with the rolls is that they fell apart easily. It was difficult to dip them in soy & wasabi without dumping half the rice in the sauce. It looked like the sushi chef was inexperienced as he should have rolled them till they were tight. Overall, the taste was good, the wait staff was attentive both by coming by and by clearing the used dishes. Nothing I like less is when there are dirty dishes cluttering up the table & you are waiting for fresh entrees to arrive! The meal was reasonable for sushi but if I go back I’ll ask questions on how items are served up & perhaps ask for recommendations.

My girlfriend and I had lunch with our friends on vacation here because they said it was one of their favorites. We experienced the friendliest service in all of California. We got the lunch special bento box and everything was delicious. The miso is very good and the mega-mug Sapporo special is the cherry on top. Can’t suggest Go Go Japan enough.

GO GO JAPAN AND BENTO was pretty GO GO GO. The staff was pretty good and fast. The food was decently priced for the portions that you got. The miso was pretty MISO good.
The Wasabi is not guac, so don’t go and scoop up some with a tortilla chip or anything like that.
OK

Here’s a nice and quaint Sushi and more restaurant. The stag is super friendly, the service is quick, and the food is delicious. This evening I had the Tonkatsu Ramen, and edamame. I brought back to some local places an ate at in Tokyo Japan a few years ago. This food is very good. Come try it and support the business.

I’ve been coming to this amazing sushi house since the day they opened (back when they had a conveyor belt). The food and service are top quality. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious! I enjoy the decor that makes me feel like I’m actually in a storefront in Tokyo. The best part is they always remember me when I come in and immediately know my drink order. They always have specials going on during certain times of the day. Please come and check them out! Long live GOGO!!!

Absolutely love Go Go Japan! We’ve been coming here for years and even when it’s been awhile between our visits, the owner still recognizes us. Same with the staff. They’re friendly and the food is super good. My absolute favorite is the Special Mojito roll. My husband’s is the honey chicken. Super good sushi restaurant!

First I want to say that I love the atmosphere and the decorations. The people were kind and welcoming. I loved the large menu, personally, because I knew I would find something that I would like. The super crunch roll was great. I loved the sweet and spicy mix and the salmon made for a pleasant flavor. The Go Go Japan was the most different roll I’ve ever had! I’m glad I tried it and I did enjoy it although I will likely stick with a more traditional roll in the future (I love the rice texture of traditional rolls). The cupcake roll was huge!! It is a meal in and of itself! The mix of flavors was great although I had to eat little by little.

All in all, loved the experience. Will definitely come again to try more of what they have to offer.

You want good sushi that will leave you stuffed, there are many places for that. You want great sushi that will leave you very satisfied and ready to enter a food coma if you decide to try to finish what you’re served in one sitting, then this is the place to go to. Let this serve as forewarning… seriously bring an appetite as you will get a lot of food for your money compared to other food sushi places.

I personally recommend the sushi cupcake or any combination for the bento boxes. My kids loved their crispy chicken (basically chicken kaarage), shrimp tempura, and the gyoza. I was hoping to have room after my first sushi order to try out a variety of other rolls, but I had to tap out just after finishing half of my sushi cup cake order.

This is a family owned restaurant, and the owners are very friendly and welcoming, and a lot of their Japanese-stylized paintings were done by their daughter. Overall the atmosphere was warm and cozy. If you are ever in the Oceanside, CA area, do not miss out on this hidden gem! Now that my family has found it, we are definitely coming back!!!
