The vodka battered haddock was a revelation – perfectly cooked, light & crispy batter, served with delicious Koffmann chips that were cooked to perfection. But for me, the real star of the show was the curried tartare sauce – it was absolutely sublime! The way it added a depth of flavour and the subtle hint of spice to the dish was pure magic, and a definite game-changer. And let’s not forget the amazing mushy peas – creamy, indulgent, and utterly delicious.
The Pomme Alba was again, absolutely amazing, I could live on that dish.
The barbecued beef kebab was tender and full of flavour, and the artisan bread side was also a fantastic (I cant miss that out).
What really made our experience stand out, though, was the exceptional service. The staff were all incredibly friendly and knowledgeable – they were happy to answer questions about the menu, make recommendations, and ensure that our glasses were always full. It was clear that they were passionate about the food and drink they serve, and it added to the overall experience.
The drink selection was also impressive, with a range of cocktails and other alcoholic drinks to choose from. It was the perfect spot to celebrate a birthday in style, so thanks again.
If you’re visiting Glasgow, The Iron Duke is an absolute must-visit. We’d highly recommend it to anyone coming to the city – the food, atmosphere, and service are all top-notch. For us, it was a highlight of our short trip from East Anglia, and we’ll definitely be back when we’re next in Scotland.
Don’t miss out on this Glasgow gem – book a table and enjoy the best of Scottish food and hospitality. And don’t forget to try the curried tartare sauce – it’s a must!
From the outside it looks like a typical wee pub but once inside the place was warm & welcoming, the music selection was excellent & the volume was perfect. I particularly liked how we weren’t rushed or squeezed in like so many other places that try to fit as many people as possible into every last square inch.
The starters were delicious. I enjoyed mine so much that if they were to offer a main course version of the chicken tikka masala, I’d make that my next choice! The portions were just right & well presented. My Dad had the steak pie which he said was lovely but would have preferred there to have been chunks of steaks instead of lots and lots of flakes of steak. It’s just an observation really but I would agree. That said, I have no complaints whatsoever and I’m very much looking forward to my next visit. I hope this place does well and sticks around!
