I traveled into Newark to go see the New Jersey Devils play and found this lovely spot near the Prudential Center. Joy (the owner) was an absolute delight to interact with and she puts a lot of huge emphasis on quality and consistency with her katsun and curry. It was absolutely delicious and one of the most warming katsus I’ve had and was perfect for a snowy Jersey day.

Needed a quick warm meal after an appointment nearby. The person who took my order and made my food was a delight. She genuinely cared about if I enjoyed the food, and I very much did. Ordered the chicken katsu curry and ate every bite of chicken, sauce, rice, and cabbage. The lovely person working added to the experience. I will absolutely be back when I’m in the area again!

There aren’t many restaurants that genuinely care about the quality of their food to such a standard. Speaking with the owner personally, she puts her heart into it. She made this chicken curry with love. Being open for 6 years since the pandemic, this place is absolutely worth the hype. It’s always a treat to spend my lunch here when circumstances permit it. 10/10.

I was thoroughly impressed by this hidden gem in Newark. Joy, the owner of the establishment, was such a delight to meet. I wandered into this restaurant with my friends and did not want to leave . I’m not very tolerant of spicy foods but their Japanese curry was so surprising! I was skeptical about it at first but I was given a sample and instantly knew I had to order something EXPEDITIOUSLY Thank you, Joy, you will be seeing my face again!

The food was a little pricey but so so delicious. Slightly spicy but not overpowering, the proteins were crispy. The portions were plentiful but not massive, which is good if you can’t take anything home (I was stopping by before a concert). I highly recommend the food. The lady working was very kind, asking if we needed any help with the menu and asking every customer if they enjoyed their meal.

The only reason I took off a star was the seating. There were only metal stools/seats at awkward heights to the table, it wasn’t the most comfortable to dine-in.

Other than that, will be back next time I’m in town for a show!

My husband and I came here for dinner and we were not disappointed. Ever since the NY location closed, we craved the Go Go Curry grand slam and shrimp tempura (which i think are the best shrimp tempuras ever~). Finally after all this time, we made, loved it and will be back for more ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for the amazing service and delicious food!!

Absolutely amazing experience at Go Go Curry in Newark! Joy, the owner, is a gem—so welcoming, accommodating, and clearly dedicated to her craft. She went above and beyond to ensure our meal was perfect, with a genuine smile and warmth that made us feel right at home. The curry was rich, flavorful, and comforting—exactly what you hope for and more.

Supporting local businesses like this one is so important, especially when you have passionate owners like Joy who pour their heart into everything they do. If you’re in Newark, do yourself a favor and stop by Go Go Curry. Delicious food, outstanding service, and the kind of community vibe that makes dining out special. Highly recommend!

Store is pretty small with small table for dine in and can get dirty during busy hour if people did not clean up well after themselves. This place is not meant for sitting comfortably and more for a quick lunch. Ordered chicken and pork katsu curry. The katsu curry portion is fine, would be nice to have a drink as well. Both chicken and pork are good, seasoned well, not drying and tender, but I like pork more.
