The seafood dip was our starter and, wowsers, it was good. The puff pastry it was served with was delightful, all by itself. It melted in your mouth. The cajun seasoning mixed with the crab, shrimp, and crayfish was good enough to eat with a fork… I did.
The steak frites was cooked perfectly and so tender and juicy. I didn’t much care for the fries it was laid on top of, but who could eat them after all that other food.
My wife had the spicy bbq shrimp po boy and it looked very good as well.
We will be back again and again. Next time, the beignet will be on our plate.
I’ve never had Cajun and I want let down with this dive!
I started with the “hurricane” and we ordered the seafood dip
That was amazing!
I’d never had crawfish before!
I ordered the spicy shrimp po boy and oh boy is correct!
Was a wonderful treat to eat! Though I had to ask for more sauce because the bread was dry and there was no flavor until it was added! Could have used some more lettuce and tomato because there was very little!
We will return and I will try something new but best believe I’ll order another Hurricane!
Everything was absolutely amazing from the atmosphere, customer service was amazing.
The food arrived hot and delicious and the waitress stayed in contact with us to see if we needed anything and she recommended some of their favorite meals that she thought we would really enjoy.
I absolutely will visit and and recommend to my family and friends to visit.
Food — AMAZING.
My wife and I were in Statesville for a conference and asked the front desk clerk at our hotel where we should eat. She didn’t hesitate — “The Quarter.” That’s all we needed. We looked it up, saw Louisiana-style Cajun cooking, and said, “Yep. We’re in.”
A quick heads up: it’s a little tricky to find at night. GPS took us to a different restaurant (same owner, we later learned). The Quarter is actually tucked behind it. Also, parking downtown requires attention — some lots are permit-only, and we were told they absolutely will tow. So park wisely.
When you walk in, it feels like you’ve stepped into a small New Orleans spot. They’ve nailed the vibe. It’s cozy — full bar, tight seating, jazz playing in the background. It was lively (and a little loud) when we arrived around 8 PM, but as tables cleared out, it settled into a really enjoyable atmosphere.
We started with the Crescent City Seafood Dip.
Now let’s talk about the real headline here: the beignets.
OH. MY.
These weren’t an afterthought. They were buttery, soft, flaky, and melt-in-your-mouth good. The kind of good where you immediately start calculating how many you can reasonably order without embarrassment. I would absolutely buy a dozen of those alone.
The dip itself was very good — rich, creamy, heavy on the cream cheese, with pimento cheese folded in Although I couldn’t really taste pimento cheese, (I would have loved to taste some in the dip). Solid dish overall. But the beignets? They stole the show.
For the main course, I took our server’s suggestion and ordered the Steak Frites Verdant — a Delmonico strip over fries. The fries were good, but the steak was the star. Buttery, perfectly cooked, fork-cutting tender. So good.
My wife ordered the mini Muffaletta — and there’s nothing “mini” about it. It was good, she really enjoyed it, though it wouldn’t be my personal pick. She chose fried okra as her side, and that? That I would absolutely order. Crispy, flavorful, done right.
Even though we were full, we grabbed Bourbon Street Beignets to take back to the hotel. I will say this — they’re best enjoyed fresh. They were still good later, but they don’t travel quite as well. Lesson learned: eat them there.
So the stars of the night:
The Beignets (clearly)
Fried Okra
Delmonico Strip Steak
Our server was super sweet, attentive, and knew the menu well. They serve Coke products (always a plus in my book).
If I’m back in the area, I’m definitely returning to try more of the menu.
There’s always something good waiting when you come and see.
