I selfishly don’t post reviews, but the food & ladies here deserve one. I also don’t eat pastrami, but do here – regularly.
If you’re in a lunch rush, I would call ahead.

First time coming here, and this spot is so good! We were blown away. Very friendly staff. Great, fresh sandwhiches. The soup of the day was fresh and delicious and my son loved their chocolate old fashioned milk shake! Definitely recommend this spot.

Sandwiches were delicious and portions large, we were only able to eat half our sandwich. Looked like a lot of their customers were regulars.
Restaurant is tucked in a bit off road, so not visible from Bechelli. Limited parking, but it didn’t seem an issue as people went in and out quickly with pick up or to go orders. Good size seating area.
I’m guessing they do catering, lots of that type stuff around perimeter of dining room.

Glad I found this hidden gem deli in Redding. I don’t go into that part of town very often but will definitely return when I’m in the area.
Casual deli vibes, the gals working were delightful & friendly, great quality, simple staple sandwiches with fresh meats & breads, as well as all the typical deli fixin’s, pie, bread pudding & more.

The fam and I were feeling up to having sandwiches for lunch and being new to Redding, I wasn’t sure what was around so I did a quick google search and noticed Don’s sandwich shop and deli and am I glad I looked it up!! I ordered four sandwiches, the Addi aka the Reuben, fried pastrami with turkey, turkey sandwich with sourdough and avocado and the Cali was the last sandwich. I can tell you that the Reuben I ordered was fantastic. It was very flavorful and savory. They slow cook the meat in the crockpot for the Reuben. We also ordered some potato and macaroni salad to try. I’m extremely impressed with their food and the homey vibe this place produces. There’s definitely a level of love in their food. The great thing is it’s right around the corner from us so we’ll definitely be back. If you’re in the mood for sandwiches then look no further, Don’s Sandwich Shop & Deli has you covered. Happy eating fam!

This place is been around Redding for a long long time and it is really great.
Clean and fresh, good variety, and very friendly staff. I will look forward to going back there again and trying some other things. Today was a turkey sandwich and a pastrami which was really amazing. Chocolate chip cookies are also to die for!

ORIGINAL: For starters, we took the food with us and ate it later, but it was just ok. We had the Addi Aka Reuben and the Ernie. The Reuben meat was chopped by hand, super chunky, and remarkably fatty. The flavors were ok. The pastrami in the Ernie was good, but the flavors were very mild and underwhelming.
The service was great. They were fast, helpful, and very pleasant. One young lady made suggestions and very cordial. They all seemed really on top of everything and worked very efficiently as a team.
The atmosphere was old and tired, bordering more on an antique shop with a deli. The location is a bit of a head scratcher too.
On the whole, sadly don’t think we’ll be back.

Hands down the best deli in town! Sandwiches were so good and huge. Big selection, great prices. The ladies working were so great! My daughter spilled her milkshake and they were so kind and helped clean it up. They even gave us some cookies, I definitely plan on coming back.
