Cherry Street East is a wonderful spot for classic American food. They serve generous portions that are hearty and satisfying, and every dish feels made with care. The flavors are spot on, making it the perfect place whether you’re hungry for a casual bite or a full meal. What stood out most was the owner—so kind and genuinely welcoming—that made the whole experience feel like visiting a friend’s home. A place I’ll definitely be coming back to again and again!

Went here for my brother’s birthday and was pleasantly surprised!! He will eat anywhere that serves burgers, but Cherry Street East was totally cute, and the food was delish!! I got a veggie bison burger with waffle fries…could not have been more satisfied. Also tried a bite of the pancakes and they were AMAZING. Perfectly fluffy. Would definitely recommend!!!

This place was incredible!! We came here for dinner and the staff are so sweet. The food is great, and the workers are very attentive. We came and even got a free dessert for simply being kind to there staff. I definitely will be back!!!

I have have been coming here lately for the last 6 months taking my father here for lunch. Cherry Street has been a locals favorite for many years. The food has been consistently great and as advertised. The service is excellent and always makes you feel welcome and like a local. If you are looking for an excellent bar and grill this is the place.

Horrible, poor quality food. Mac and cheese looked and tasted like it came out of a Kraft box. My chicken sandwich was gross and the salmon was raw, despite asking for well-done. Very poor quality ingredients at premium prices. I’m really unsure how this places has stayed in business since the 70’s in New Canaan of all places.
Fine as a bar, not as a restaurant. Staff is nice, but really not a place to go for quality food or hospitality. Dive bar equivalent to a diner but dark, and to be honest most diners have much better quality food.

I used to go here quite often many moons ago, but for some reason haven’t been there in quite a while. But was meeting an old friend who lives in New Caanan, and we chose this place. I opted for the Fish-n-Chips which was pretty tasty, but somewhat oily. But I ate every bit of it. The atmosphere is very “dive” bar ish, which is a bit of a charm in itself. We were able to eat our food and enjoy a couple of beers with some good conversation without them trying to turn over the table. After all these years CSE still has tasty food, and I’m sure I’ll be back.
