My wife and I stopped going to Joyful House when due to COVID they stopped in door seating. But they recently re-opened so we went there. I ordered the seaweed salad which was ice cold, nicely seasoned with small sesame seeds and julienned cucumber strips beneath.
My wife had the General’s Chicken which she said was lucious. It came with fried rice and an eggroll. Her only complaint was she did not get Duck Sauce for the eggroll. But this was minor because she didn’t ask our waiter for any. She requested some soy sauce and it was quickly brought to the table.
I ordered the Sushi/Sashimi Combo which came with Miso Soup and a small Garden Salad which I did not want because I ordered the Seaweed Salad. The soup was hot and tasty and the sushi/sashimi was fresh. We each ordered a mug of green tea as well.
My only suggestions to the owners are I feel the small bottles of soy should be on the table along with the salt and pepper. A small dish to combine the soy and wasabi would also be lovely instead of the plastic container of soy.
Total cost was $56.00 not including the 20% tip I added in. The staff is super friendly, polite and terrifically accommodating.
Be advised the restaurant does not serve liquor. Now there are times I enjoy a cocktail or a beer with my meal I fully understand that the cost of the liquor license and stock is expensive and I’m sure the insurance is costly. So plan on tea or soda with your meal.
Five stars!

I’ve gotten takeout from here a few times, but was never able to dine in because the dining room wasn’t open. I was excited to do that for the first time today. My party and I ordered edamame, a Volcano roll, Dynamite roll, Kung Pao chicken, and a combination meal. Everything was delicious. The gentleman serving us was very sweet. We will definitely be back!

I haven’t had dinner from The Joyful House since Covid. I thought I would give it a try. I ordered online, with no issues. The site said my food would be ready for pick up in 25 minutes. I arrive 30 min., later. The person working the desk said my order wouldn’t be ready for 45 min to an hour, that it was a busy night. I took a seat to wait. 10 minutes later the host found my food ready with multiple orders. I quickly checked my order it looked fine. I had the right amount of containers. So I assumed everything was fine without opening each container in the lobby. I ordered Chicken Teriyaki with white rice. I added vegetables with my order. Crab rangoons with sweet and sour sauce, and Hot and sour soup. I did not receive my vegetables that I paid for. I did not receive the sweet and sour sauce. The Teriyaki chicken was very dry with no flavor or sauce. I think it was plain cooked chicken. The Hot and sour soup had no color and lack of flavor, it tasted like onion water/soup. The white rice was prefectly fine . I was looking forward to having Chinese food tonight for a week, in general the Joyful house left me Joyless.
***an update a few hours later***
I was contacted in regards to my review. We spoke in detail about what I found disappointing with my meal. Who I spoke with, was kind and showed true concern about my experience. He gave me a small credit to use in the future. I am impressed that Joyful House contacted me directly to help resolve the issues I had and made an attempt to fix them. I am upping my customer service score to 5.

Have been coming here for years. Since new ownership the first few times it was great. I had gotten chicken hibachi and poki bowl as well as Rangoons, wonton, general tso…Last two times ordering the food was cold. Three meals all cold. The sauce tasted like it was just thrown overtop and not cooked in. .. last time I ordered they gave 20 minute wait time I went there 30 minutes later . Went in nobody inside. No orders ready or waiting to be picked up on counters. I waited over 30 minutes more before getting my food. And not till after a large group walked in ordered off menu and got their food before me. Mind you I ordered 40 minutes before them. I think they are trying to do to much with to little staff. Maybe get another cook or two in kitchen and cut out delivery cause they are definetly trying to do more then they are able to… keep it simple, and keep it fresh.

Food lacks flavor. Used to be great new owners have definitely no clue what their doing. Lack of fresh ingredients. Steamed dumplings lacked flavor. Portions are small for the new higher prices. Overall just save your money and go else where

Whoever wrote the review about check your bag to make sure you have everything I 100% agree.

I asked for 4 chopsticks and 3 eel sauce (which was paid for) and they did not provide all 3 eel sauce and only received 1. I’m feeling salty on getting charged for eel sauce I was not provided. Chop sticks only gave 3.

Overall food was really good as far as sushi goes and crab rangoons. The sauce provided was weird – like a Thai chili would have been way better.

My partner and I came here today for lunch and we had such a great experience! I personally got the Sunrise and Dynamite roll. My partner got chicken tempura. We were very pleasantly surprised by the portions and the food itself was delicious. They even threw in a complimentary sushi roll which was such a pleasant surprise and was super good! I would say the prices were fair for what we had ordered and I feel like we have found our new spot! Thank you again for such a wonderful experience.

Joyful House was hands-down one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I’ve ever had. A male employee spent the entire time screaming, swearing, and verbally abusing staff—right in front of customers. F-bombs flying, doors slamming, chaos echoing from the kitchen.

Our waitress was kind and professional while being treated horribly, which made the whole thing even worse. Watching that kind of workplace abuse while trying to eat is disgusting.

If this is how staff are treated publicly, I can’t imagine what happens behind closed doors. Save your money and your nerves.
