This was our first time in and we will definitely be back. We were greeted as we walked in. The café is very clean, spacious and bright! Amber helped us this morning and I dont think you could go wrong with her helping you. So friendly, gave us time to look at the menu took our orders and the food came out pretty quick. She checked in with several times and was juat overall amazing. Food was really good too. Not fancy or trying to do to much just good “home cooked” food that tasted great! Definitely plan on being back. We have been looking for a spot for breakfast, and we might have found it. We came from williamston area and it was well worth the drive for the service and the food.

My husband and I were visiting this town and decided to eat breakfast. The food is good quality but a little pricey. They make a decent cinnamon roll . The menu also has many options. The cafe is clean and sports a full bar.
The service was excellent as well. It is in the downtown area with parking fairly accommodating. I would return.

A downtown DeWitt delight! Ample parking either in the street (I believe no meters) or behind the restaurant (Though be careful to not usurp party store parking space. God help you if you do! LOL).
Spacious inside. I got a bar-vibe and sure enough tucked away in the corner there is a small beer/alcohol station.
Our wait staff was a hustler. She took beverage orders as we were taking our seats. She was on top of the specials and throughout lunch visited the table just enough times to make sure our diner needs were met.
The menu is great! Breakfast until 3. A nice build-your-burger section. I chose the falafel which comes with fries. They were out of sweet potato fries (boo!). The falafel itself was pretty good but it was made with a tortilla (instead of pita bread) and served as a wrap, no onions and spring greens mix (which…I kinda liked though hardly traditional). I don’t think it had tahini sauce. So was it a falafel or a fauxlafel (see what I did there?)? I did eat every bite though.
An enjoyable visit to a pleasant restaurant in a peaceful town. DeWitt is a hidden gem. One of those stroll-worthy mid-Michigan small towns people should visit.

It was our first time here and with such great reviews and pictures we were looking forward to eating here.

We got here about 1:00, were told we could sit anywhere so my boyfriend and I grabbed a booth, sat there for a little while and then at 1:23 asked the hostess if we were supposed to order at the bar or if a waitress would come to our table. She told us that she’d be right over and within a couple minutes she did and brought menus and got our drink orders. She brought our drink orders after a couple of minutes and took our food orders and its around 1:40 at this point. Our food came out around 2:15, both wrong but we didn’t realize until after we had started eating. (Boyfriend asked for raw onions, they weren’t, I asked for eggs over medium, they were over hard). Now, I completely recognize at this point we could’ve told the waitress about it and gotten our food remade but at this point we’ve been at the restaurant for over an hour and a half and had just gotten our food so we were hungry and didn’t want to wait any longer so we sucked it up and ate it. We asked for our check while we were still eating and waited another 30+ min before getting it.

I worked in a restaurant for over 6 years so I know that it can get busy and people forget, when we walked in there were a handful of tables but maybe 10 max. It seemed there was only 2 people on the floor so I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but even when we finally got our check and went to check out the waitress we checked out with even acknowledged we had asked 30 min prior.

The food was decent and I’d love to try it again but this experience left a lot to be desired.

I am so glad we went there! The service was outstanding and the food was excellent. Chris was our waitress and she made us feel like family. If you’re in the area, and you’re hungry for home cooking, stop in and be sure to ring the bell if you enjoyed your meal!

Family Tree Cafe is a cozy, family-friendly diner-style restaurant known for its warm atmosphere and homestyle meals. Here’s a quick review:

– Food: Serves classic American comfort food — think hearty breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches, and daily specials. Portions are generous and flavors are homey.
– Atmosphere: Welcoming and casual with a small-town charm. Suitable for families, seniors, and regulars.
– Service: Attentive and friendly staff, with quick turnaround times.
– Price: Very affordable, especially for the portion sizes.

The food was honestly just gross. The omlette I got was decent but the hash browns were greasy and seem old. The pancake tasted like fish (telling me they didn’t clean their grill last night). Water tastes like they got it from the river out back. Just overall not a good experience, new owners have changed the place.

We really enjoy FTC, both the ambience and the food. The staff are helpful and friendly. We recommend your restaurant, but wonder when you’ll consider providing to-go items not in Styrofoam but in a more environmentally-conscious way.

This is our first restaurant experience in Lansing/DeWitt. It is an American restaurant with a few Mediterranean options. First and foremost, we loved the ambiance of the restaurant. It is spacious and very cute. The servers were very nice too. We only got takeout but they were wonderful the whole time we were there. There are some vegetarian options for those who need it.

We ordered the spinach and cheese pie, the mixed cherry salad with grilled chicken, the Greek wrap, the old fashioned grilled cheese and the veggie burger. We had ordered one plate with chips and rest with fries. We got fries for all of them. But, apart from them, everything was exactly as we ordered. The grilled cheese had a sundried tomato sourdough bread which I really enjoyed. The wrap was stuffed and delicious. The burger was also really good. The salad was a big portion and pretty good. The pie was a little oily but otherwise also quite delicious. The food stayed pretty fresh even 4 hours later, when we actually ate it.

I would recommend trying these guys out if you are in DeWitt.
