This place is great and very busy! The cheese pan de Bono is phenomenal and I will be back for more. The salted caramel crunch cake was delicious as well.
It was fairly busy when I was there with most tables occupied. I hope they’re successful and stick around for a long time!

Cute cafe. Good vibe. Staff is kind and polite. They served tasty drinks though a bit pricey for the area. Some of the pastry is good… I’m just not a fan of items in coolers so I usually just stick to my cortado.
When the weather is nice, sit outside.

Great coffee shop with an impressive menu. I was surprised to see Pan de Bono. I ordered two and they incredible! You can tell they were fresh. Coffee was great. I had a cortado while I worked and later took a latte to go. Great place to sit down and get work done.

1971 is a quaint coffee shop in a handy location. It plays soft jazz and has ample seating. A good selection of coffees an teas that compliment their bakery goods. Had a cappuccino and a caramel frappuccino. They were good but expensive for the serving size. Overall, a nice place to have a cup.

Visited on a weekday morning in December and it was nicely decorated for the holidays. Excellent pistachio latte with good food. Parking in the back. Would visit again next time in Haymarket.

Was driving through and we stopped here. Super cute place, parking lot right next to it. We ordered a couple iced coffees, tuna sandwich, and a croissant sandwich. All was phenomenal! Service was great and fast. Would definitely go back.

My husband and I stumbled on this coffee shop on Friday and were not disappointed. The shop itself is beautifully decorated and inviting. The aesthetic makes you feel like you’re in the 50’s, 60’s, or 70’s in Europe. Our barista, Sam, was a pleasure to interact with and answered all of our questions about their offerings. We tried their cinnamon latté, drip coffee, and a thousand miles pastry which were all phenomenal. The latté art (a teddy bear) in my drink was very cute and detailed. What I loved about the cinnamon latté was the caramel and nuts on the outside of the cup that created a unique tasting experience for me as a customer. The espresso itself was very light and didn’t upset my head or stomach, which was a welcome change from my previous coffee drinking experiences. As we wrapped up, we chatted with Sam again, who was nothing short of kind, friendly, and warm. We will definitely be coming back to try more drinks and some of their sandwiches. There’s plenty to choose from as far as their menu goes. The hard part is just picking one thing to eat. So glad we found this hidden gem. It’s not a matter of if we will be back, but when!

This coffee shop is a tucked away gem! Genuinely the best croissant I have had in the US. Genuine European vibes inside, delicious coffee and wonderful staff.

Cute coffee shop! They do serve alcohol but plenty of coffee drinks. They also have ice cream. Be try clean and the bathroom too. Plenty of seating for one person or a small group. There’s even some tables outside.

Big fan, wish I had found 1971 sooner! This coffee shop has a very relaxed yet somehow sophisticated vibe to it. I enjoyed the laid back music, the long layout, and the variety of seating – among the many tables are a comfy couch and armchairs, and a longer table tucked away in the corner that is perfect for studying or working. They also have a couple small tables outside.
There are many great sounding food and drink options – it’s tough to go wrong! I tried the pan de bono (and took several home), almond cake, and an iced pistachio latte. Everything was outstanding and beautiful to boot. Service was so nice. Free parking, free wifi, clean bathroom.
I highly recommend a visit if you find yourself in Haymarket, or are looking for a great coffee shop to work or study from!
