Found in the back of a food truck lot at the heist pdx is Bark City Barbecue serving up some awesome barbecue. I want to say Portland is an awesome food truck city. The aroma of the smoke as you come walking around the back wafting your way out of the two offset smokers that are very tightly fit with barely any space between fire boxes. I ordered today the Pitmaster’s Nap platter that has a little of all the main meats and on top of that I got come extras. The brisket was wonderfully fatty and moist. With it the coffee sauce was wonderful adding a little bitterness and sweetness. The jalapeño cheddar sausage just had this wonderful snap when I bit into it. I do like having it sliced sometimes but nothing beats grabbing a whole sausage and chomping down to feel that snap. The turkey was definitely my favorite regular menu item. So moist and paired with the white sauce. The beef rib laid on a bed of buttery potatoes was so rich and the chimi sauce added the pop of herbiness I needed. It made me think I was eating my veggies in all this protein lol. I scarfed that down so fast I got some of the sauce on my shirt. (Spent some time in the restroom cleaning it off). Better yet, the maple bourbon garlic glazed double smoked pork belly burnt ends!!!!! It’s a mouth full and a tasteful. The soft pieces of garlic had none of the pungent flavors just leaving the sweet nutty profiles on top of the sweet maple. It’s such a great sauce that I licked the parchment paper clean. Those pork belly burnt ends I could eat all day. The different flavors I get that deviate from the “traditional” keeps it interesting and I loved every bite of the meal. 🙂

As a native Texan, I’d been very disappointed with bbq in the PNW. This place the best I’ve had so far up here. Ribs especially were on point. Brisket was very good, but could’ve been slightly higher temp. But overall tasty

I had duck leg, the pork ribs, and the mac and cheese. I love the ribs because it’s a Texas style bbq, so it’s a dry rub, with a sweeter sauce on the side. Perfectly cooked, so it falls apart! The Mac and Cheese has jalapeño added, so it a bit spicy.

My only BBQ bona fides is growing up in the Texas Hill Country – I don’t purport to be an expert at smoking it, but I’ve had most of the central TX heavy hitters.
I’ve eaten here twice, most recently this past weekend around 1PM (prime BBQ time back in Tejas). I got the two meat plate with the BBQ beans.
Main issues:
1) BBQ beans tasted underdone, they had a ‘crunch’ to them.
2) I got fatty brisket, and it’s the same issue I experienced the first time: it seems the serving temp is too low. When served, the fat has already started to congeal and becomes something to chew through, rather than a rendered fat that melts in your mouth. The brisket ends up tasting “warm” but not “hot.” I understand the limitation of chafing dishes and what not, but it’s a pretty key component of serving up ‘cue.
Flavor is there, and none of it is lacking, to be clear. Sausages were tasty – classic jalapeno cheddar, and a fun Korean BBQ sausage. Coleslaw was great.
But $32 pre-tip for an underwhelming (or just under-warmed?) brisket means I’m very unlikely to give ’em a third try. For a point of comparison, The Smoking Jay in Milwaukie has similar prices but the meat tastes much more “right off the pit.” (I still have many other Portland BBQ spots to try!)

Mouthwatering deliciousness!! I had one of the specials of the day, the South Carolina pulled pork sandwich with a side of Mac & cheese, it was so flavorful! I ate every scrumptious bite. The Mac & cheese was super creamy with bacon, tiny bits of jalapeño & crumbled potato chips on top. It was so incredibly good. The pork belly on the sandwich was a strip of heaven on an already yummy sandwich. Will definitely be back.

Ordered two brisket burgers, food was delicious. No issues with the service or the cashier. Only leaving the review I am due to sanitary concerns.

For damn near $35 & the portion size for a kid, I’d pass.
For $10 less you get more food at busters.
They cant even cut up the sausage for me?
I need to use a plastic butter knife?
No butter for the bread, bread was dry.
Sides were mid, the potato salad was meh. Winco has better.
I was more impressed with the drinks inside, not bad prices and drinks are amazing.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and was finally able to stop by. I ordered the three meat tray with brisket, ribs and hot link. The brisket was delicious and so tender, the ribs were also so tender and perfectly cooked and the hot link was full of flavor. The sides were also so tasty as well as the banana pudding. Everything was full of flavor. The staff was also friendly and welcoming. I can’t wait to be back!

Got a super yummy jalapeño sausage on Texas toast!! Curly headed dude at the counter recommended the banana pudding and I’m sure glad he did. I mean look at that smile! Best BBQ in PDX, and that’s not even factoring in their great prices! So good I had to get a T-shirt!
