Fox’s has a small menu, and they absolutely delivered!

I ordered the half pound roast beef sandwich ($14) with cheese sauce ($1.50), and it was ridiculously delicious, especially for the price. The meat was perfectly medium, very thinly sliced, and with a lot of salt and pepper. The meat did not melt down the bun from the juice which I really appreciated. The bun was perfection for the sandwich. The cheese sauce tempered the salinity of the beef with an amazing creaminess for a perfect match, and the dill pickles were great. It was one of the best roast beef sandwiches I’ve ever eaten.

The bartender/hostess/waitress was fantastic. She frequently looked at our table, and chose to visit when it looked like we might want something. She had great intuition, and had obviously been in customer service for a while.

The atmosphere is an old hole in the wall bar with a good selection of drinks and outdoor seating is available.

Fox’s is an incredible value while dining out prices are going through the roof. They’ve earned my patronage, and I’ll go back to try some of their other dishes.

A small restaurant with a nice-looking bar and another 5–6 tables. We visited on Saturday around 2 pm and it was more than half full. There seemed to be one man managing the bar and serving food, so there might be a wait if you go during peak meal hours.

The food was great — we had the Ghostface Fillah, Boston Beef, and curly fries. Everything was tasty.

The highlight of this meal was the roast beef stacked high. It was cooked perfectly no matter how big of a bite I took each bite was like butter. My only regrets is I should’ve added the cheese sauce. I only got it backed up when I come back I plan on getting it backed up and adding cheese sauce, the burger was great I would recommend the roast beef

Love this downtown bar! Great place for a late night bite, or anytime really! You will find sports playing, friends gathering, staff that feels like neighbors and food that cares to be good! There is no bad choice on the menu so try it all, with cheese sauce

Despite its moniker, Fox’s Hole in the Wall is anything but that. Nestled in a downtown historic building on Princess Street, the bar/restaurant features eclectic photos and beautiful exposed brick walls. I almost hesitated posting about this place because it’s such a “hidden” treasure that I fear for the inevitable explosion of popularity that is to come- once the secret is revealed. Fox’s is a tiny place, with a fairly good-sized bar and a few tables for the patrons (like me) who are obsessed with their food. Mixed drink lovers can get a plethora of options, while wine drinkers like myself have a few choices, but all quite good. The real star of Fox’s is their food. My god, the food! I have been there twice thus far (will be back again and again) and have had the Smash Burger and the Sunday Savior (insanely delicious fried chicken sandwich). Both times my husband has had their Boston Beef sandwich, and raves “best beef sandwich I have EVER had!” When I saw the Sunday Savior on my plate, I demurely said that there was no way I could finish a sandwich that large. I cut that gorgeous monster into two pieces (it literally was too large to hold in one piece) and one crispy, juicy bite after another followed until my plate was completely empty. I feel I could’ve eaten another; it was that good. The staff both times at the establishment were friendly and attentive- my wine glass never went empty until I was ready, and overall the place just has a good vibe. If you live in Wilmington like we do- what are you waiting for?…. this may be the best bar food in the entire city. If you are coming to our beautiful city for a visit- plan a lunch or dinner in a hole in the wall that is anything but. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Stumbled on this restaurant while exploring the area and was blown away! Ambiance is outstanding, decent bourbon selection, food was 10/10, and the service was even better.

We had appetizers and they were delicious!! Big wieners were hot but very tasty!!

Not a bar person and that’s why I rated the atmosphere at a 3 star, but the food was worth the trip.
