When our parents moved to New Jersey from Viet Nam, they brought along a passion for food and the dream of opening a Vietnamese hoagie/sandwich shop of their own. Adjusting to their new lives they put that goal aside momentarily, but the kitchen remained the heart and gathering place of our home. With our parents’ experience; over 20 years in the restaurant industry in Vietnam. Finally, Banh Mi Ngon comes to Cherry Hill, New Jersey. As a former regular, it’s depressing to see how much this place has deteriorated. They’ve cut cost so much it’s unrecognizable. I often ordered from this place multiple times a month so I can tell when they’ve switched to lower quality and smaller portions. On January 30th, I went in with my partner and ordered our usual. Also as per usual, we ordered extra veggies (extra charge). When we got our order, there were barely any veggies on it. When we talked to the front, they told us they’d talk to the kitchen about it. 5 minutes later, she comes back telling us that that is indeed the normal amount. I told her that we’re regulars and that this was indeed NOT the normal amount. The bread was smaller, meat was less, and veggies were nonexistent despite the extra charge. However, she said that I was wrong and that the normal amount would be EVEN less. As I was eating, all I could think was “what happened to this place.” I used to recommend this place to anyone who wanted great Banh Mi’s. Safe to say I won’t be a regular anymore and will not recommend this, as there are better restaurants out there. What a shame.
Edit/Reply to owner (WITH NEW PICTURES): We actually did NOT request it to be cut in half so that was surprising on its own when it came out. When the girl at the counter came back to us, she DID NOT offer us for more veggies and was adamant in that what we got was standard. She stated that had we not paid the extra, it would’ve been even less. The picture depicted is half of the sandwich, but that does not discredit our review or how much it’s filled. One look at other reviews can show how much portions have shrunk. I have included reviews photos from a year ago an a review with similar complaints. If you are trying to discredit a former regular, you’ve lost the plot.

Favorite place to go for noodle soup and banh mi! Their drinks are all so good and they’re open early! Viet noodle soup for breakfast in South NJ got the pho bo and lychee tea – soooo good!

Very welcoming and clean establishment. The employees were very kind and helpful while ordering. I’ve been in here for coffee a few times, but this is the first time I sat down to eat. I’m looking forward to trying more things on the menu. Thank you for a great meal, can’t wait to come back again!

LOVE this place! I’ve been twice on my own and recently brought a friend, who agrees it’s amazing. Very authentic and the taste is always what you imagine it to be, with fresh ingredients. The pork belly is my go to, which we shared with the BBQ Beef. Washed it all down with Vietnamese ice coffee. Extremely clean and it even has a portion dedicates to selling authentic Vietnamese food. Highly recommend this place! The family who runs it is so sweet, I love how the matriarch always pops out to smile and make sure everyone is happy. 10/10

Peach tea absolutely perfect for me, peach slices are fresh.
Summer rolls are fire eat with peanut butter sauce and fresh vegetables inside love the sour veggies goes with the summer rolls
Everyone is so nice and always smile with me. Table and chair are clean. Workers always check in around the table to see it dirty or not.

I’ve been to this restaurant many times. I highly recommend their Vietnamese ice coffee. It is so good it can be quite addicting. :-). Their banh mi selections are delicious and the best I’ve ever had. The baguette and the ingredients they use are fresh and flavorful. I recommend banh mi #2 or #3.
Their service is quick and the workers there are friendly and knowledgeable.

I really enjoyed this place, the staff are very polite and the food is as authentic as you will find in the area, you can either get hot or cold sandwiches which are very refreshing in the summer heat.
I thought that the coffee was really tasty and strong without being bitter, frankly impressive and the milk shacks are to die for, I had the mango and highly recommend you try it, the store is also full of Vietnamese food items that you may like to try at home, for example chilli sauces or frozen goods so make sure you check that out.

The bread with our bahn mi sandwiches was delicious. My husband’s pork with crispy (not really) pork belly was ok. My meatball sandwich was gross. The picture showed full round meatballs, but I got lukewarm mush. Very light on carrots, etc. Not expensive, but not worth even $7.95. Not going back.
