On many occasions I had walked by this Mexican restaurant on my way to other bars and restaurants. I had judged the book by its cover and how wrong I was to do that. On this occasion I decided to disregard the outside and check out what was inside. What I found was an attractive interior with such friendly and knowledgeable servers. I also heard my favorite music playing, salsa music from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. I was smiling and moving my feet when the classic margarita that I ordered arrived. It was so delicious that I ended up ordering another. For food it was recommended that I try the brisket taco. It was a great choice since the meat was tender and juicy. I happily paired it with the sweet platanos, a really good combination. For dessert, the coconut flan was recommended and it was light and tasty. As I was about to leave merengue music started playing and I decided that whenever I’m near this place I will drop in even if it’s just for a drink.

Really good quesadillas I only tried the ribeye (bistec) and then had a short rib taco. The quesadilla was much better the portions are decent but on the smaller side. Prices are very fair and it’s overall good food and ambience.

Stopped by last night just for a quick drink before heading home and ended up loving the place! We sat at the bar outside and it was such a good spot perfect for people-watching and soaking in the cute, lively vibes. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Me and my friend had mango and strawberry margaritas, both were super tasty, refreshing, and well-balanced. We also tried the pork and steak tacos, which were surprisingly good too. Didn’t expect much at first, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Will definitely be back for sure!

We were looking for a small dinner spot before a show at Carnegie Hall. La Esquina was just down the street, so we stopped in. I’m so glad we did! The fried plantains with salsa verde were exceptionally good!! We had a party of six, and it was very comfortable.

We visited during our trip to nyc in June 2024, and it was so good all around that we had to make another visit before our flight home. Kevin, who was looking after us on both of our visits, was extremely friendly and likeable. The food itself is incredibly tasty, the flavours are delightful and it is always a bonus to see the food being made freshly in front of you in the restraunts open view kitchen.

We had the Tingo De Pollo and Brisket versions of the tacos and quesadilla. Both of these dishes were fantastic.

The food is reasonably priced for New York City standards, especially when considering the quality, flavour, and freshness of the food. Another added bonus is the Mexican Coca-Cola that they have in store, which is a treat after drinking the not so flavorful American Coca-Cola for a two week trip

Quite authentic Mexican food, even their guacamole with tortilla chips were good. The bowl with prawns was so generous, and it could be shared so that you could sample other dishes.

The quintessential neighborhood good eat, hidden among a sea of restaurants tailoring to tourists and corporate folks.

We felt like we were back in East Village or Brooklyn. Such humble exterior yet cozy and chic interior.

The taco and torta were delicious. The fried chicken was juicy. The sopa was small ($16!) but tasty.

Definitely will be back for the food and vibe.

I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and let me tell you, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the pork belly tacos—each bite was a burst of flavor that left me wishing the tacos would never end! If you’re a fan of savory, succulent pork, these tacos are a must-try.

To complement the tacos, I enjoyed a well-crafted michelada that perfectly balanced the meal. My only suggestion for the future would be to consider adding non-alcoholic beer to the menu for those of us who occasionally want a lighter option.

The ambiance of the restaurant transported me straight into a scene from a classic Mexican movie. The vibrant decor, lively music, and warm atmosphere made me feel right at home. The friendly service added to the overall fantastic experience, with staff members who were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming.

Overall, La Esquina is a gem. I can’t wait to return and indulge in those amazing pork belly tacos again!

Loved how “on theme” this restaurant was. The man who took our order was welcoming and extremely helpful. The menu above was in Spanish, so he handed us menus the gave a more in detail description of the items in English. My shrimp bowl was absolutely delicious. The shrimp had a nice char and were succulent and sweet. Everything tasted fresh. I wish my food was a wee bit hotter. I ordered the frozen fruit margarita which I also enjoyed. I should of gotten salt on the rim to counter balance the sourness. I would definitely go back again.
