Chase –
I normally don’t review fast food chains because usually the experience is defined by the service and I’m generally of the mindset that fast food employees are trying their best.

With that in mind — Leann at the Mason City Subway was incredibly rude. I watched her take the order of the person in front of me in line and then take mine. The difference was she was dismissive and rude to me when I ordered almost the exact same thing as the guy she’d just helped. A fairly standard six in sub, no weird substitutions or anything. She was disrespectful, asking me if that was REALLY what I wanted. Um, yes? I wouldn’t have ordered it otherwise.

Then she asked if I wanted it toasted and I said “No thank you” and watched as she immediately put it in the toaster oven. I repeated myself that I didn’t want it toasted and she just stared at me. I don’t know what was going on to justify that degree of hostility but I will not be coming back. The other team members were perfectly fine and I had no issues, which made my interactions with Leann even more bizarre.

Went in with some friends yesterday, and when my friend started his order the man behind the counter just started laying into him like they knew each other and bullying him about his sandwich order. My friend had no clue who this man was. The guy just kept going and even put onions and peppers on my friends sub that he had never asked for, and the woman behind the counter had to fix his mistakes, while she also rushed to make online sub orders, as he continued to insist that my friend had told him to put those on when he literally hadn’t. He tried to start being goofy again with me, but I think he could tell I was not having it. The woman working was very friendly and efficient. I felt bad that she had to work with this guy as it seemed she was the one doing most of the work. This was the most awkward and irritating time I’ve ever had in a subway, and I hope they can train this guy to have better customer service.

My friend and I go into this establishment after a long morning, we just wanted something to eat. An old couple came in before us and they were in the middle, we thought they were waiting for the veggies. So when the man who this review is about says “what can I get for your order.” I thought it was for me, honest mistake. He cuts me off when I start and says “NO THEM.” The older couple let us go first. Which was very nice of them. I asked about the artisan Italian bread, just to make sure it wasn’t the flatbread because they don’t toast it. He decided he had to have the absolute worst attitude of his god damn career when bitching at me “NO ITS THE WHITE BREAD.” He dead stared me, he looked angry. His mouth was agape like he was mocking me. Glaring at me? I don’t let that slide l, so I told to “You can cut the attitude.” The funniest part is I got the flatbread even though I didn’t want it. The rest of the staff was absolutely kind, so I have no clue what gave him the right to talk to me like that it is truly a horrible way to treat your customers especially when they are giving you money and tips. So thank you for reading my Ted Talk.

Their food is fine but their service is horrible. I don’t know if they are under paid or over worked or both, but employees are crabby or ignore you. Not sure if it’s this store’s policy or corporate’s, but they prioritize filling online orders to in person orders. It’s happened multiple times. This last time, not one of the three people even said, hold on let us finish this and we will take your order. When they put up another mobile order, after we waited for several mobile orders to be completed, we left. Used to love this place…not so much anymore.

On February 22nd, my boyfriend and I traveled from Des Moines to visit family. We came to this Subway location and were treated by a young girl, probably still in highschool. I got a foot long flatbread sandwich and asked for it to be toasted. She informed me that they don’t toast them anymore because “it’s a new recipe and it would burn and dry out the bread.” I asked her to toast it anyways, accepting the fact that if it was going to be burnt and dry that was nobody’s fault but my own. She proceeded to huff and puff, tossed my sandwich into the oven, and slammed the door shut.

When I began telling her what toppings I wanted on it, I noticed that the lettuce was brown from sitting out uncovered for too long. I didn’t dare ask her to switch it out for the new pan, because I didn’t want to make her any more angry than I already had. She looked so mad, and she was glaring at me through our entire interaction. However, she was all friendly with my boyfriend, and even switched out the lettuce for him (without him asking), she even went as far as picking out all the nasty looking pieces for him!

His sandwich was tightly wrapped and looked nice, while mine was literally just thrown together. We then ordered 2 churros once we were done topping our sandwiches. She was very obviously upset with us for not asking for them at the same time as our sandwiches. She was throwing stuff around, slamming the pan onto the table.

Working in fast food myself, I was quite embarrassed for her. Needless to say, we didn’t tip her. And she made sure to look at the receipt after we paid, and huffed and puffed some more.

The only reason I’m eating this 2 stars instead of 1, is because I believe she might have been disabled, in one way or another. However, I do not believe that is an excuse for treating customers poorly. Oh and PS: my sandwich wasn’t burnt or dry, so I believe she just didn’t want to do her job.

Brutal environment, lady behind the counter was extremely rude. Had an order get returned by them and didn’t get why just to stop in & to be up charged. Never getting our service again. Hire better staff, people that actually want to work.

Came here on a Friday night 5 minutes before close. As I was headed for the door I immediately saw the three ladies staffed for the night bickering to each other about my presence. I could almost read one of their lips as she said, “Don’t make eye contact.” I approached the door and pulled on it and was locked out. They could all clearly see me and were ignoring me ON PURPOSE because they didn’t want do their jobs. I don’t normally go to establishments even 10 minutes before close but as a nursing student my clinicals run late into the evenings. Having worked in a similar sandwich business myself for a couple years I understand how end of the night closing duties work. The rule is that you don’t close until the clock strikes your stores official closing time. The level of immaturity from these girls I’m incredibly disappointed. It’s really not that hard to communicate with your customers but obviously you didn’t want to because you knew you were in the wrong. Moral of this story I will NOT be spending my money here ever. Hopefully this location gains staff who follow company policy and respect it’s customers.

Waited for around 12 minutes to place my order, only to keep being ignored by staff members. One of the people behind the counter didn’t acknowledge I was there, ready to place my order, while the other two employees were sitting at a table chatting.

Ended up walking out and going elsewhere for food, as I wasn’t going to continue waiting to place my order. Very disappointed with service and staff, and likely won’t be coming back.

Between 10:30 and 11.am, I went toSubway 13362-0 store. The subs were great as always. The guy making the subs was VERY RUDE!! He never smiled, was very short with everyone. I had a coupon, he looked at it. Said “this expired yesterday “, and p itched it in the garbage. I asked for a small diet Coke, he didn’t ring it up.
I will not go in that Subwsy again. I will travel across town and buy there.
That guy needs to go back to customer service training.
