So we waked in and got served by a lady named “Alley”, she rushed our orders due to “shift changes” but she sat at the bar for 2 hours after her “shift change”. She was rude, disrespectful and had no patience. My girlfriend went to the restroom and the door was open/no fully closed, my girlfriend told her to lock the door next time but she immediately walked up to her and caused a altercation, she started to use profanity then sent the current bartender over to confront us like we were in the wrong, he refused to acknowledge us as costumers and took her side before hearing ours, she accused my girlfriend of banging on the door but when we tested it the door would not budge at all. This place is unprofessional and quite honestly either racist or sexist. Will not be visiting this establishment in the future nor would I recommend this bar to anyone looking for a chill place to drink, this is a disappointment as this is our first time at this bar and again the original server “Alley” was completely rude and disrespectful from the start.

It’s an Ole Skool bar with a mixed crowd with the same beer prices since the 80s. Darts, June Box, Bingo and Karaoke Nites, and good people. Oh, and you can smoke at this bar, if that’s your thing.

I had a great experience there decent price for the beer and friendly environment, but lack of ventilation allowed the cigarette smoke to dwell on me . Super smoky.

Darn. I love Bloody Marys and am new to the area. Been checking this place out. But feared to go in due to questioning service & atmosphere. The horrific reviews confirmed my suspicions.

The lady that is working here has to be miserable. My guy comes here about 3 times a week and EVERY time she is there, there is an issue. We tried to get in the bar tonight at 12:30 am ( mind u the bar closes at 3) she had the doors already locked. This is the 4th time we have been there and she has closed the doors early. Because of this lady we will no longer be returning

The bartender who looks like she’s had one too many sugary drinks lost the smile she had when she saw me walk in the building, everyone in there was staring just like someone else mentioned. I asked if they had a bathroom and she said “for customers” with an attitude, I said “well I will be a having a drink” since they were the only bar open in my radius, she scanned my ID and said “we can actually refuse Illinois IDs” and I won’t add the rest of what I said, but I went to the bathroom and she turned the music off as well as talked about me to another customer which could be heard through the walls. Complained my entire time there about people coming in but was sweet to all the guys there or coming in. Damn, girl, are you there against your will? Someone steal your man? I will gladly find other bars in my new neighborhood who treat their veterans better. If your other bartenders are this bad good luck keeping the place open and I will definitely be telling all my friends to stay away.

Loved this bar, until I learned only a limited amount of black people are accepted before the bartender wants to close it down 2 hours early. It was a big group of me and my co workers (all black) everyone spending money, everyone was friendly, having fun and unproblematic. After less than an hour bartender says it’s “too many people” and would be doing a last call at 1am bar closes at 3am. I have been to this bar when it was “too many people” except they were mostly white faces. Bartender is ok with black people patronizing when he is able to count on one hand.

We came in Wednesday night & it was crowded as it was karaoke night. We came in with a fairly large group & they didn’t want to serve us & seem like us all being there was an issue so we left.

On the evening of 5/28/2024 I went to Pines Lounge for the first time to try something different. At first glance it look like a nice pace to be that being said immediately after entering and ordering my drink the guy that was running the bingo game came over to me asking if wanted a bingo card not giving me anytime to become acclimated to my surroundings I didn’t even have time to take the payment out for my drink I felt bum-rushed. At this time the female bartender gave me my drink in my hand almost simultaneously of me getting a bingo card with all this going on I went to set my drink on the bar and looking at the bar I couldn’t distinguish the bar rail from the bar and set my drink halfway on the rail and over it went and when that happened there was no compassion from the bartender in fact she looked at me with utter contempt, through some towels on the bar, and took my money. As I was cleaning the drink off the bar with the towels she through on the bar she was saying with a bad attitude don’t worry about it but by the time she gave me my second drink I had the first drink cleaned up.When all was said and done I paid $18.00 for one drink wasn’t told I would have to pay for the spilled drink and I didn’t even get so much as a receipt.
Needless to say I set at a table slow sipping my $18.00 drink trying really hard to salvage some part of my first evening out in a very long time that didn’t happen. All I can say at this point is if taken money from their customers is how they make extra money then I’ll stick with the liquor store and play my own music and would advise people of color to do the same unless you bring your own group.
