The food was really good. There are several improvements that need to be made. The waiter started off really good, but then it was taking a really long time for our appetizer. He eventually came back and told us that our appetizer was almost ready. This was 15-20 minutes after ordering and the appetizer was a cup of cheese dip. We looked at each other like really? Almost ready? Anyway, 5 minutes after that, he brought it out. We jumped into it right away. One minute, no exaggeration, ONE minute later, he brought our food out. I purposely checked the time once the cheese dip came out, because I had a feeling the food was already ready after the long wait, and he brought the cheese dip out “first” so that it would seem like things were in order. I even made a comment about the one minute difference, but laughed it off, assuming he probably wouldn’t charge for the botched attempt at an appetizer.
Like I mentioned, the food was great. However, the kid’s arroz con pollo didn’t include tortillas. Why not? Any Mexican meal comes with tortillas. Kids don’t eat tortillas? Secondly, the kid’s arroz con pollo had no cheese. Maybe this is the way it’s served here. I have been to a lot of Mexican restaurants and have always seen it served as rice, chicken, and cheese dip all over it. It just happened to work out, since our “appetizer” was just sitting there.
Another thing that was kind of annoying was that we had our table filled with plates. Everything extra came on it’s own plate. So, at the end, all of those plates were there and in the way. We even made several stacks of them and he didn’t make any attempt to clear anything off until we were ready to leave.
After we asked for our check, he told us that we could pay in the front. I thought oh great, I don’t get to look over my check. I will be pressured by an ipad. I had an idea of what I thought it should cost, but when it was over $70 for 2 adults and 1 child (2 of us had water and there was no alcohol ordered,) I asked if I was charged for the cheese dip that came out one minute apart from the food. The cashier asked me if we consumed it lol. I scoffed and told her we didn’t know the food was coming one minute later or I would have told him to take it back. She said “Well, there’s not much I can do about it without a manager.” I felt like our waiter should have communicated that to the manager if necessary, although I never saw a manager present. We just paid it and decided at that point that we wouldn’t be back. I requested a copy of the receipt, just to look over, even if it was after the fact. I did indeed catch two more discrepancies. Both entrees were charged at a higher price than what was posted on the menu. That seems dishonest to not charge the correct prices AND not allow guests to see a bill and know how we arrived at a certain price.
All in all, the food is good, but the prices are high in comparison to other similar restaurants and customer service is lacking.

A (almost) hidden gem! This restaurant is tucked into the Old Bag Factory.
We’ve been several times and each time gets better. The food was super tasty with complex flavors. I had the chilaquiles with steak and eggs. The tortillas were still crispy when served sitting in a wonderful green salsa that had just the right spice with a bit of a tomatillo tang all topped off with this wonderfully prepared steak! I placed my two over easy eggs on top and enjoyed some of the best food I’ve ever had.
The service is very attentive and friendly. And the price reflects the portion size and quality!

Service was great our waiter was very attentive. The presentation of the food was absolutely fantastic. The salsas were very delicious we gave 4/5 stars because the meat wasn’t as juicy as we wanted and the tortillas could of been just a little fresher. With those small tweaks it could be perfect! My honey absolutely LOVED the horchata. It’s her favorite of all the places we’ve been. I love the small touches of the radish and cucumber. Also the chiles were so delicious! We ate every piece of them and the grilled onion. Will come again hoping for a 5/5

El Zocalo Authentic Mexican Cuisine was delicious. You’re served generous portions that are amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Old Bag Factory is a unique setting and they’ve done well with the limited space. There’s also nice outdoor seating. We’ll definitely be back!

I really liked this place. It’s located inside the Old Bag factory so you have to go in the main doors of the old bag factory then turn right and head straight down past the bathrooms. It’s small only about 10 tables and one waiter but the service is still really good. They do not serve hard liquor or beer as far as I could tell but had sangria. We got Jarritos which were $2.5 each. We got the large queso for an app which was very good and hard to finish. My husband got a variety of tacos and they stole the show! They came with ample lime as well as an avocado sauce and spicy salsa. I got a steak burrito which was good but a little lacking in flavor. We also got the rice and beans. Beans were good rice was a little bland. Still, I would come back again. The service was great, we had plenty of chips, and the prices were more than reasonable. Also they stay open until 10 on a Friday. I was surprised to see that many local places closed at 8!

It was my first time here. Food was good, service was ok, but it was also Valentine’s Day so it was busy. High tables in the bar are too wobbly, they should be fixed, that could ruin an evening for sure!
