Maritime Bar still has legit potential—classic dive spot with cheap drinks, pool tables, darts, that gritty downtown Appleton feel, and it’s holding its own even after the old owner passed away (rip to the guy who kept it real and raw back in the day). Things got a little quiet for a while, but the new setup feels like it could ramp back up and become a go-to again.
What I really miss are the punk shows—this place used to be the spot for local punk and metal bands to go hard, like the Fox Valley’s mini CBGB’s. No other bar let that scene breathe the same way. And one of my favorite open mics was hosted there too—great energy, real crowd, always fun to jump in or just watch the chaos. Bring back more live music, punk nights, and those killer mics, and it’d be packed and electric every weekend. Right now it’s solid for a chill beer, games, or low-key hangs, but crank that old edge and it’d crush again. Hope it gets there soon—miss the good times.

Girls weekend in Appleton and we stopped on here! So fun! It was Dan the bartender’s birthday & he bought us a drink! Oh and he’s handsome and funny too!!!! Then in came Richard in his well worn overalls selling farm fresh eggs! Of course we had to buy some! We really hope to visit again!

I thought this place was an old person’s bar, but I was wrong. This is a great modern bar with games of all kinds. I won the darts game we played in my group. Overall I had a good time.

Just after we walked in, the bartender did everything she could do to make us feel welcome and pointed out where there were available seats at the bar and took our order promptly, she is a class act an was very gracious. However, that’s where things went sour. The music being played is not in any way what I prefer to hear. I asked a couple next to us if it was the only type played in the bar, and they sadly said yes, but they mentioned an app I could use to play what I wanted. I did so and did get to hear my “two” songs, then it went back to what it was. I then did it again, just two songs. and the same and didn’t get to hear more songs that I selected using the app. The bottom line is that the company that put the mandated sound systems in all the local establishments have ruined going out. Seems every single bar in the area “must” have this system in the bars and have absolutely no control over it. An owner of a bar can not run it with the music they want it to have and draw the clients they want, it’s controlled by a corporation that takes over what and why they opened a bar in the first place. Something else I noticed about the place is that years ago, a bartender was there by the name of John. Sadly, he was taken by cancer
He was a great guy, extremely easy to get along with, and everyone liked him. After the bar got remodeled, there was a huge picture of him behind the bar on the wall, playing homage to his memory. It is gone only to be replaced with TVS. I was told it is still in the bar, and I didn’t see where. I was really disappointed that his picture was moved to put TVS on the wall instead. The Maritime “was” an Icon of a bar that stood out among all others. Now, it has become just another bar getting lost in the mediocre mix of all other places to go out.

Diamond pool table is really nice! Bartenders are always down for shaking dice, if you like small town bar atmosphere, you’ll enjoy this place! Good selection of beer and spirits, fair prices. Even a full size shuffle board table!

One of the best bars located in the Erb Park area on Wisconsin Avenue. Friendly staff with a relaxing environment on week night and very lively on weekends. Offered here: Pull tabs, touch tunes, darts, table top shuffle board, hunting simulator, gambling machines, pool table, occasionally free popcorn.

Olivia, I think her name was, very unprofessional . If you have to get a drink from her I recommend just not doing it she’ll just disrespect you about everything you do when all you do is try to ignore her. She’ll remember who I am if she reads these comments. Otherwise looked like a great bar for the first 5 minutes I was in there for.

I went there with a friend to shoot a couple of games of pool. The people are really friendly. The place was pretty clean.

Ordered a pizza, the bartender burnt it in a pizza oven and said well it’s a frozen pizza what would you expect. I would expect it not to be burnt. Not a great way to keep customers.
