I love good chocolate and fine confections. I worked in a confectionery for the last ten years, so I really appreciate the passion and effort it takes to make high-quality chocolates. I’ve had Kohler Chocolates before and have always been impressed. Since we were staying at the American Club for the weekend, stopping by the chocolate shop was a must. As part of the stay, you receive a small box of Terrapins as a welcome gift and then a couple of square truffles with the nightly turn-down service, which only made us more excited to visit the store.
We went on a Sunday morning while they were just putting out their selections in the display case. It isn’t a huge assortment, but everything they offer is beautifully crafted and clearly made with care. I was especially surprised and impressed when we asked if it was possible to sample something and they offered us an entire truffle rather than just a small piece. That was incredibly generous.
You can purchase pre-boxed assortments, but if you want a custom selection, you can choose any combination you like and they will box it up for you. They offer gift boxes for four or nine pieces, which are perfect sizes for sharing or giving as gifts.
We will definitely enjoy these chocolates ourselves and share them with some of our favorite people.

The terrapins are always exquisite, and it is a joy to look at the beautiful ganache, all in their perfect rows, read their descriptions, and then choose which ones to try. Going to Kohler Chocolates is one of my favorite things to do. They are always perfect. ❤️

Loved the chocolate from here! Greeted by the friendly staff when we walked in, we were given plenty of time to look around and make some choices. The chocolates are expertly crafted and look amazing! We settled on some terrapins to go. We also selected some cups of really delicious ice cream to eat inside before heading back out into the heat. Wonderful shop but like everything else, it’s expensive.

I was seriously blown away by the chocolates here….they are soo beautiful. If food could bring a tear to my eye these chocolates would do it also the staff here is SO friendly we had a blast shopping here because the employees were so kind and fun. We ended up buying a bottle of dark chocolate brandy after a taste test, it was so yummy and warmed us up. Highly recommend this place. The chocolates are to DIE FOR! I get burnt out on chocolate easily but these are so flavorful and there’s no icky after taste and it isn’t over powering so I can just keep on eating them

I am a chocolate snob, and I can attest that their Terrapins are the best on this PLANET! I drove a total of 2 and 1/2 hours to buy them… as the size I wanted were sold out on their website! It was worth the time and gas! I only wish they would sell them at any store in the Fox River Valley here in WI! If they want to sell them once a week, I will run the kiosk! ❤️❤️❤️

We went as a special treat. First time we have been there and it’s like eating pieces of art! The flavors were unique and delicious! The colors and vibrancy of the chocolates was amazing! We will be back again!

Beautiful chocolates and tasty pastries. For breakfast, avocado toast was not great (needs some more flavor), but the egg/spinach dish was good. A little pricey, but nice place.

Kohler Dark Chocolate Brandy: When it comes to liquor, I’m a fan of sweeter spirits like schnapps, rum, honey whiskey, and brandy. Brandy is made by distilling grapes and the most renowned creations come from Cognac and Armagnac in southwestern France. Kohler Original Recipe Chocolates was founded in 2003 in Kohler, WI (a second location can be found in Chicago, IL). It wasn’t until 2015 that the primarily chocolate shop ventured out to create their Dark Chocolate Brandy. I tried the brandy neat at my family’s Christmas gathering and I wasn’t particularly enjoying it (the brandy, not the party). I thought it might be good in my chocolate shake recipe, so I poured a little off to take home with me. When combined into my recipe I thought it was great. Since I would never drink it neat or on the rocks, but loved it in a chocolate shake, I am giving it the dual rating of approved (shake, recipe below) and just okay (neat/on the rocks).

-5oz of your milk of choice (I currently use unsweetened vanilla almond)
-1/2 tsp of natural creamy peanut butter
-1/4 to 1/3 of a banana
-21g chocolate or chocolate peanut butter protein powder (equals about 14g of protein)
-2 tsp sugar free chocolate syrup
-1/2 to 1 tsp of xanthan gum (depending on desired thickness)
-6 small ice cubes
-1.5oz Kohler Dark Chocolate Brandy
*Thanks to my Dad for providing the brandy for this tasting

A beautifully decorated cafe with sofas, tables, booths, and even an outdoor patio next to the lake. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Delicious food- their menu includes items that aren’t just sweet- including egg sandwiches and wraps!
