This is a family run restaurant. The service was excellent. Our waitress (the granddaughter of the owner I think) was very pleasant, attentive, and efficient. The restaurant was clean and had nice decor.
The food however was a bit disappointing. I came here about a year ago with my parents and remember being very happy with the food. This time only about half the meal was good. I think a lot of their menu items are hit or miss. I would recommend the Shanghai beef. It was spicy and the dish came with a lot of meat. Like the other reviewer, I would not recommend the egg foo young. Ours was burnt on the bottom! I gave 3 stars because of the food, but would haven given 4 stars for the excellent service and atmosphere.

The servers are fantastic. The bartender is absolutely amazing, it’s unlikely you’ll get a drink you don’t like, however be aware, they may be tasty and cute but they pack a punch. If your idea of a mixed drink is a Mai Tai from a chain restaurant, you will be knocked silly by theirs.
My husband loves the China chicken and I always have the Shanghai chicken. The Egg rolls, the Crab Rangoon, the Egg Drop Soup, all awesome. He loves the fried rice too.
Such a great locally owned and staffed place.

The BEST Authentic Chinese food in the Northwest Suburbs at a reasonable price for well over 40 years. Incredible cocktails. Beautifully decorated. A dining experience worth parking for…(but no sin in Take Out) My 1st job as a kid and 40 years later…I honestly still love New China over all their competition.

It was okay. We ordered on a Friday night way after peak time. The order took about 40 minutes. Not terrible. When ordering off their takeout menu, I was told they do not sell eggrolls with takeout orders. Why is it on the menu? Other than that, the chicken was cooked perfect. The shrimp fried rice was terrible. It was not fresh and smelled overly shrimpy. I had high expectations as a first timer but it was nothing to write home about. Customer service was great and they had our order when they said they would. Definitely give it a try once.

Was so impressed with both the food and the service. My husband and I originally tried this place after recommendations for friends and finding a Groupon for $15 for $30 worth of food. We went in on a Thursday and it was surprisingly packed. It took quite a while to get our drink order taken, as there seemed to be two waiters running the whole floor (including the bar). The waiter was very friendly and super apologetic about our wait time, so I assume this was an unexpected rush for the restaurant. The menu was huge, so deciding on an entree was no small feat. However, when we finally ordered and received our food, we were not disappointed! Everything was spectacular (and portions were very generous). The eggrolls were some of the best that I’ve had in a long time and the sauces on both of our dishes were extremely well-seasoned. This will definitely be our new go-to Chinese place in the area. We can’t wait to try some more items from their menu!

Went there for the first time today for a late lunch. We both ordered sweet & sour chicken with fried rice and a side if egg rolls. The chicken was good but sadly the fried rice was just dark brown rice that tasted like beef broth and the egg rolls were disappointing as well. The food was slow to come out and we waited so long for the check we finally had to just put money on the table and leave.

We are so bummed to see New China close! Everything on their menu is delicious. The food was fresh and made to order. We got to know the family and staff which made the experience that much better. Not sure where we will be getting our China Chicken or light fried rice from now. Nothing quite measures up.

I read the reviews before I chose this place because most if not all rated it exceptional. This was my first time ordering here just moving to the Cary area. I ordered the combo beef and broccoli with fried rice. I am not a picky eater by ANY means! I spent 35 years of my life in the USAF and have eaten a variety of foods and I can stomach most anything! Having said that, this has got to be THE WORST food/meal i have EVER eaten! It was tasteless and everything tasted the same! The broccoli was soaked in the sauce, no crunch at all and I couldn’t eat but a few pieces of it. I hate leaving bad reviews and I usually do not. But I really caution anyone from eating here. I can’t believe I spent $19! (cause I got my Wife one too) (she had the same opinion)

Really great neighborhood gem with a long history. Staff is very friendly especially all the bartenders. I’m a creature of habit so I always order the Shanghai chicken extra spicy and it is amazing. Egg rolls are made fresh daily. Family owned. You can’t stop here without trying one of their famous Mai Tais or other specialty tropical drinks. Definitely a must try if you love Chinese cuisine. Highly recommended!
