Loved it! Super charming interior, and top notch food Had the Green Ball, heirloom tomato + burrata, and the eggplant parm with veggies + pasta… all were dynamite! The restaurant holds just 18 people, so make a reservation in advance. I highly recommend this jewel of a restaurant

Another delicious meal at Mezzo! Starting splitting a Caesar, I loved the chicken caprese while my wife enjoyed her favorite eggplant parm. Everything carefully prepared and presented. Despite a busy night at a full restaurant (Valentines), our meal arrived promptly and hot.

If you’re looking for a spaghetti and meatballs joint, this ain’t it, but should you desire quality ingredients artfully prepared, this is your place.

I loved everything about this place! The food was perfect. Rhe atmosphere was so cute and cozy. The eggplant parmesean was crispy and so yummy. My partner got the polenta and it was so tasty and creamy.

Multiple veggie/vegan options. And the service was pleasant and personable. Definitely coming by again!

MEZZO ITALIANO is a cozy, organic, Italian ristorante. Seating just 18, it offers a wonderful experience.

Dining at Mezzo Italiano is like having a cooked-from-scratch dinner at Nonna’s with no dishes to wash. (Nonna is Grandma in Italian.)

Victoria, the owner and chef, visited our table. As she described the menu, we learned about her experience with conventional and vegan cooking.

Mezzo translates from Italian as “half. I.e half Italian.

Since it’s opening in June 2018, Chef Victoria has used organic ingredients, whenever possible, in her vegan, gluten free, and animal derived dishes. The talented chef creates delicious, cooked-from-scratch meals, (just like Nonna’s) and still has time for interesting conversations. (When was the last time you talked with your professional chef?)

Let me use my meal as an example:

Dinner begins with a crisp, properly chilled, lightly dressed, vegan, Caesar Salad, In place of croutons, the chef served mini toast slices.

Ciabatta Garlic Bread, smothered with house-made vegan cheese, soon arrived. The soft, “slipper shaped” pastry, loaded with nooks and crannies, is just plain delicious.

Next, Eggplant Parmesan is presented. The eggplant slices, coated with breading containing house-made, vegan, parmesan cheese, are baked, then gently placed atop cavatappi pasta, highlighted with par-cooked mixed veggies, and dressed, with the warm bite of puttanesca sauce. (Several sauce choices are available.) Absolutely delicious.

Dessert: A scoop of vegan, vanilla “ice cream,” and a scoop of vegan, lemon sorbet, are placed on a generous bed of fresh blueberries. A perfect palette pleaser that’s large enough to share.

The others at the table enjoyed dishes containing animal proteins. All found their meals terrific.

During her visit to our table, the chef told us of a guest who claimed there’s magical powers in Mezzo Italiano’s elegant, cut glass window display. The guest was partially right. There’s magic here, but it’s Chef Victoria.

STUFF:
Reservations are accepted. The small patio is dog friendly. There are no children’s menu or highchairs. Free street parking. The eatery is wheelchair accessible from the street.

The ADA compatible bathroom is at the far end of the hallway on the left side of the eatery.

A free parking lot, located behind the building, is not wheelchair accessible and requires several steps to enter the restaurant. Enter the driveway on the left side of the restaurant.

This review will not be regarding the food since we did not eat there. My wife was greeted at the entrance by whoever was working and we were refused service because we had our child with us. Granted our child and myself were standing outside. On the restaurant door it is posted that no child under 10 will be seated. We were not asked how old our child is. I understand a business asking parents to leave, or take food to go if their child is bothering the experience of other patrons or disrespecting the business, but making an assumption based on age is a very bold thing by a business. Age does not determine a child’s behavior or character. The same goes for adults. Also, on the door is a Progress Pride flag which stands for inclusion so to refuse service based on age, regardless of the law, is discrimination. I would think someone with those values which we share would understand.

While I am all for business owners having the right to do business with those they see fit, I cannot understand refusal of business based on someone’s age, instead of behavior or actions.

We ended up at Sow’s Ear where we had an excellent dinner, great service and everyone was included. If you have a child, had a child, or ever were a child I highly recommend finding somewhere else.

We had dinner at this Italian restaurant and, while the service was friendly, several things were disappointing, especially considering we paid over $100 for only 2 dishes and 2 glasses of wine.

We are Italian, and we know that food can be prepared in many different ways and that recipes vary — but even so:
• The lasagna was overcooked and also cold, to the point where it felt like I was eating purée.
I didn’t mention it at the moment out of politeness, as the server was very kind.
• The vegetables on the side were almost raw, which wasn’t pleasant to eat.
• The portions were very small — we were still hungry after finishing our plates, which should not happen at this price.
• The wine was served in a water glass, which is surprising in an Italian restaurant.
• On a positive note, the sauce was good.

What I regret the most is seeing that negative reviews often receive defensive replies instead of real self-reflection.
A negative comment isn’t meant to attack — it’s meant to help you improve, even if you have many years of experience.

Overall, it wasn’t terrible, but definitely not worth the price we paid.
Could be better.

Lots of great vegan options and the everything is very fresh. The owner is super woman with all she does, and still finds the time to make her own vegan mozzarella. A must visit restaurant if you’re coming to Cambria!

A fun little place with a cool owner, a good vibe, a good atmosphere, and delicious food and wine. Very accommodating, whether it’s with regular cheese, vegan cheese, or no cheese at all, as well as in other ways too. The owner has a great attitude and will make it work for an enjoyable time.

Absolutely disgusting and rude behavior by the woman working there. We went in on a Sunday evening at 5 o’clock to get some dinner after taking our daughter’s senior pictures up in Cambria. There were five people in the entire restaurant, and the woman stood to the side In her N 95 mask and rolled silverware and wouldn’t even look at us, annoyed we even walked through the door. She asked if we had a reservation, and we said no. (There were many open tables so we didn’t think it’d be a problem to eat, apparently we couldn’t have been more wrong). She then saw our seven-year-old and rudely said we don’t seat kids under 10. We said oh we did not realize we just saw the sign on the door as we walked in so are we not allowed to eat here, and she said “Um, no bye” Unbelievably rude behavior and while I get not wanting young children at a restaurant, she could’ve handled that With so much more respect and understood we didn’t know that rule until after we had walked through the door. If this is the businesses policy, maybe put it on your webpage when people look up places to eat in Cambria. What you shouldn’t get to do is be disgusting and rude to anyone who didn’t know that and walks through that door with a child. We didn’t know that rule (no children) it wasn’t anywhere on the website or Google, And it was our first time wanting to try this place. This place I’m sure has great food, but she will be chasing people out forever by her attitude alone. Disgusting. EDIT**** I have gone on here to the reviews, and the food looks great and looks to be like it had great reviews. I’ve also noticed that anyone who came in with a child or had any sort of complaint about food or a wait time has been bullied, chastised, and even mocked for being a college student by the owner, who turns out is the rude woman we encountered. I am unclear how this place is even still in business with the owner being so rude to anyone who didn’t have a perfect experience or was treated poorly because of a rule they did not even know about until they came in. So to the owner, you don’t have to have some snarky reply, It’s unbelievable that you own a restaurant that’s a service industry and you don’t have more tact in your dialogue with people who are just trying to come enjoy a nice meal. You’ve even called people losers if you didn’t like their review. It’s unbelievable to me that you think that the way to handle business if a person has a bad experience at a place you own is to bash them on their own review. I guess you don’t see it makes you look really bad. I’m glad you want a nice atmosphere for your guest, maybe try adjusting your attitude to match that. Again, no need to respond, but I’m sure you will since it Looks like you certainly enjoy bullying Anyone who didn’t give you a four or five star review.
EDIT AGAIN TO THE OWNER: there is one small printer paper 4 x 6 post on your window, there’s nothing on your Google page. It’s clear you hate children, there are multiple reviews on here on how you’ve acted if God forbid a child walk through your front door. That’s fine, as you said in multiple comments on one star reviews, you do you boo.Stop being a freaking Internet bully and just try to serve your patrons better. Every review on here that wasn’t about food comments on how rude and awful you as the owner was to anyone who bothered to walk-through that front door if they had children or god forbid had burnt chicken, burnt eggplant, and awful pizza and marinara. Grow up. You’ll be closed in the next few years for sure. Stop attacking people for leaving honest reviews about your awful behavior, and/or awful food.
