The Fish Shack was recommended to us for a “unique experience” and it didn’t disappoint. We checked first about gluten free and they were just working on a new breading for their catfish and were very for tips about the best way to do it. Both our catfish meals were delish and even tried the “Apple Pie Beans”. Fries have a rice flour dusting that makes them extra crispy and so good! On the river with a cute and inviting vibe. Nice people.

The Fish Shack exceeded expectations. It’s a unique, Mississippi River experience. The fish was fresh caught from the river. I got the fried catfish, apple pie beans, fries, and the apple and pumpkin rolls. Everything was absolutely delicious. The owner was friendly and seemed to really take pride in his service and food. I definitely recommend if you want a unique and fun experience!

Love the classic ambiance. Old mismatch chairs, amazing view, binoculars at all tables. Looking for healthy fare? We got the cold smoked fish plate. We also got deep fried fish that was literally caught and cut within moments of deep frying. Definitely a destination. Find it love it.

Cool and unique. Enjoyable visit with decent bar style food. Burger was good, like a diner. Steak sandwich wasn’t bad, like a chopped steak. But, the sausage and smoked kraut was amazing! Highly recommend this order, plus a few Hamm’s to wash it down. Note — CASH ONLY.

A very special, one of a kind place, just amazing. It’s the perfect spot on the river to watch the world go by, and the homemade food happens to be great too. BBQ rib sandwich, mashed potatoes, calico veggies, and cheese curds were all great. Vintage maritime decor, laid back atmosphere, friendly staff. Mike the owner engaged everyone, asking how the food was and if they needed anything. An honest and kind-hearted person, he really made the experience perfect. Only open May – October. Closing for the season soon I heard, so get there while you can.

The food was delicious and affordable with a great view! Need I say anymore?! Really cool vibe, the staff was very sweet and the gentleman even gave us recommendations on places my boyfriend and I could stop at on our drive through Iowa! We both had the channel fish sandwich and it was SO fresh and delicious. Definitely get a side of fries because those were fantastic too. I also have no idea how they pickle their pickles (haha!) But you get a tiny piece of what looks like a pickle with your meal and it tastes like fresh watermelon but looks like a pickle. Crazy! Enjoy your meal and drink with a beautiful view of the Mississippi River with lots of pelicans!

We love the Fish Shack! Been coming for years, can’t beat the water view, friendly service from Mike, and a great variety of home cooked meals. Gotta try the kool-aid pickles! Highly recommended.
