Party of 2 went for lunch on a Saturday. It was tricky to find parking. The restaurant was empty, so we were seated immediately. We wanted to stick to vegetarian food, and tried the bhindi masala plus paneer karahi. The former came with a bowl of rice. We also ordered a basket of naan, and all of this was enough quantity for two people. Everything was very tasty and seemed not too oily. The decor of the place is really neat – feels cool and classic Indian.

Ate here for lunch. The service was great. We tried a few appetizers, onion pakora and fried paneer. Delicious. After the appetizers I forgot to take more photos because we were busy enjoying our food. Hubby had the Rogan Josh, nice spice and tender cuts of lamb. I tried the mango curry with chicken, medium spicy and it was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The regular and garlic naan were plenty. Tried unsweet and sweet chai, which we loved. The portions were great. The vibe and decor of the restaurant were beautiful and fun.

Great service great food and great ambiance. Good size shrimp in the shrimp dish. The chicken was nice and tender, and the garlic naan bread was delicious. A very nice portion of rice to go with everything was a nice touch.
They also have a separate group dining area that seats about 60 people.
My only complaint is no longer do they do buffet style.

Second time here and both times I was sad at how empty it was. However, it was during the week both times. The food is DELICIOUS! The SAHREE not Sorry cocktail was also great! The restaurant is large and clean. Service was quick. We tried the build your own option, which came with basmati rice. With spice level mild/medium. The spice was not noticeable until I ate the leftovers the next morning. We added naan, both garlic and cheese garlic. The chicken 65 was a decent appetizer but not the star of the show. There’s a nice waterfall inside. I didn’t get a video because I didn’t want to film the couple eating near it.

Awesome place. Service downgrade with spicey foods I think water checks need to be more frequent. My empty glass was waiting for water a few times! Highly recommended and I will be back!

I ordered a take out for naans roti and aloo paratha , chicken briyani, Channa masala and butter chicken. the food was not editable , All the bread items were uncooked , the curry tasted raw . The chicken briyani was like a yellow rice with no aroma or taste pertaining to briyani. All of this food was packed in one thin paper bag , they did not have the courtesy atleast to double bag it . The bag ripped on delivery and thankfully the uber eats driver was able to catch and save the content. The plastic container that had the curry melted from the heat . My total bill came to $123 and it was all a total waste as I couldn’t give them to the elderly and kids in the family .

I recently was craving Indian food and since moving to San Diego, I Had not tried any Indian food spots. I am so happy this was my first experience because I Was so satisfied with the overall experience and the food. I absolutely love Indian food, and this was the freshest most authentic Indian food I’ve ever tried. The ambience is so cute. There’s even a water feature that makes it very luxurious, but peaceful at the same time. This restaurant is so unique And I will definitely be taking my entire family there when they come to visit me. The staff was extremely kind, so nice and helped me through the menu. Definitely recommend butter chicken, and the cauliflower appetizer and their chai tea is made in house the right way. I’m literally eating my leftovers as I’m writing this review.

I’m leaving a review because I want this place to stay open so I can keep coming back! This is the best Indian food I’ve had in San Diego. I got chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo. Good portions for the price and they let you choose your spice level. The decor is really fun as well, and they have an event space in the back that looks pretty cool. The service was perfect, my server was able to accurately describe the dishes I asked about. Try this place out! Tell your friends!

India Palace in Hillcrest is an absolute gem for Indian cuisine lovers! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that set the perfect tone for an amazing dining experience.
The food? Simply outstanding. We ordered a variety of vegetarian dishes, and each one was bursting with rich flavors and perfectly balanced spices. The naan was soft, warm, and slightly charred—just the way it should be. The rice was fragrant and fluffy, a perfect complement to the hearty curries. The vegetable curry had an incredible depth of flavor, and the paneer dish was creamy, comforting, and downright delicious. The pickled sides added an extra zing, making every bite even more exciting.
Service was impeccable—our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to offer recommendations. The portions were generous, and every dish felt like it was made with care.
If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful Indian food in San Diego, India Palace is the place to be. Whether you’re a spice enthusiast or prefer milder flavors, their menu has something for everyone. Can’t wait to come back and try more!
