The food here is consistently good — been there over a dozen times. Chicken Makhani is our favorite as the chicken pieces are tender nugget sized, not shredded, with a thick and rich sauce. Their spices taste fresh and vibrant. They have always gotten the heat levels right when lower levels were indicated. We get carry out so I can’t speak to the atmosphere but the dining room is always clean. Very friendly and efficient service.

We have had indian food pretty regularly over the last 15 years in 3-4 other restaurants on the north side of Chicago and Skokie, this is a rare gem where the curries made us say, Wow. The complex spices are delicious.

Excellent food. We loved it. Loved that you can name your spice level and level 5 is spicy but still flavorful. We have our favorite spot for Indian food and after tonight we have a new favorite. Service was a little slow but the worker was doing his best. I can’t wait to return for another meal. The chicken tika masala was great and the vindiloo was too. Loved the garlic naan also. Small place but should not be overlooked.

I really love the butter chicken here, as well as the naan. For the price of the lunch special, you get very good value. I also recommend the mango lassi. The restaurant is often understaffed, so service can be slow occasionally.

Food was very delicious but it’s not Halal food. I asked after ordering and just before eating food if it’s Halal. The gentleman was kind to confirm it’s not Halal. This is the first Indian restaurant I saw in all the countries I traveled which is not Halal. They gave me different food. I was ready to pay for chicken ordered as it was mistake not asking before but they were very kind to waive the cost from the bill. If Halal food is not your preference then food quality is good and Mango Lassi is must try here.

2024-This restaurant is a blessing for me because they have multiple levels of spice adjustment options. This restaurant offers Spice level Zero which tastes good and is perfect for me. Thank you for offering these, please always keep this in all your vegetarian items. I wish that all restaurants were this smart and offered this option. Please also add simple chapati on your menu for the ultimate homestyle food pairing! Thank you!
2025- This restaurant continues to be the best! They went above and beyond for me, especially with my post-op food restrictions. They even made fresh dal just for me, ensuring I had good, filling food while I recover. I wish all restaurants followed their professionalism in accommodating spice levels to zero and making necessary adjustments as needed. The staff was incredibly friendly—the guy who took my order discussed my dietary needs, provided alternatives, confirmed with the chef, and helped finalize the best option. Truly exceptional service and care! Thank you so much!

Cute but non-descript and very understaffed Indian restaurant in the heart of downtown Evanston. Large menu with both meat and vegetarian choices. Samosa was crispy and had flavorful filling. Chicken Tikka masala was savory and buterry. The dal was a miss. The garlic naan was crispy and super tasty. Service was attentive but very slow because there was only one waiter working in the entire restaurant. Recommended but allow ample time if you go in a busy time of day.

Food was ok. Not very oily.. So a plus. However, the chicken and the paneer dish had too much of food coloring. Wonder if it was to mask some other issue! Price was good for quantity.

We waited an hour and a half before the food came. Lots of people are getting frustrated. You can see the staff taking a lot of online orders, people coming in to pick up their food also waiting a long time. The food is good but just go to a different restaurant, unless you have lots of time to spare.

Best Indian food in the area. Better than any of the places at Devon. My favorites are the Malai Kofta, Samosa Chaat, Aloo Chaat, Bhuna Ghost (lamb). Even the breads are proper as in India, not the double layer poori-like naans all the places at Devon serve. The most positive surprise for me that this place is BYOB! Lastly, if you’re NU affiliated, don’t forget to take a 10% wildcard discount 🙂
