I’ve wanted to try this place for a while and I’m glad I finally had the chance to. I wasn’t able to try everything that I wanted to but I grabbed what I felt would be the most important item they sell, which is of course an empanada. I tried their beef, beef with cheese, and grabbed some maduro balls.
The beef empanada was good, a bit greasier than I had hoped but thankfully there were napkins in the bag. I felt it could have been a bit more full but when is enough ever enough? The beef and cheese was good also (my favorite of the two). The shells were crispy and flaky. The filling was seasoned well (I was hoping there would be some manzanillas chopped up but no luck).
The maduro balls were interesting and I’m a fan. I think I liked these more than the empanadas honestly. Very interesting take. I would have loved a little sauce with them but aside from that, very good.
I ordered to go so I can’t speak on the atmosphere much, but overall I’d order from them again. In the near future I’ll try a few different flavors and possibly update my rating.

Amazing empanadas. I also had the hashtag breakfast with the best Yuka fries I’ve ever eaten. The (presumably) owner was very nice and gave our dog a free pup cup.

We went in for the first time tonight after years of saying we wanted to. We were greeted warmly. We were given lots of gluten free options by the owner as well as free yummy soup! We also purchased a daily special meal in their pay it forward program to provide a free meal to someone in need. The fact they help the community in such a way is unbelievable. My husband and i loved the vibe of peace, love, and inclusion. We got 3 different empanads for him and i got the loaded tacos which were gluten free. The flavors….wow… just so good. We haven’t had flavors this good in a long time. The fact the food was amazing, the atmosphere was welcoming, and they help the community in a great way i cannot recommend this business enough. Run don’t walk!! Thanks so much Empanada Nirvana!

Absolutely disgusted and disappointed!!
Today a coworker and I stopped in for food ,as we were leaving we seen roaches crawl out from behind a painting..
When we return to the job and inform our other coworkers about the roaches ,that’s when I find out roaches have always been a problem for them! And more!!
Other coworkers begin to show me shared videos of roaches crawling on the freezers of nirvana, on the crock pots with food in them and on the cutting boards! Then my manager shows me a video she recorded of what appears to be the owner pumping septic waste from the septic tank to a covert on barea rd..it’s terrifying to think what he does when customers aren’t around if he does this when a customer is sitting in her car watching him…my family and I have ordered food from empanada nirvana since the day they moved right around the corner from us,it’s disgusting to know we have been eating food contaminated by roaches this whole time..I have collected copies of the photos and video from my manager and I will be emailing them to the health department and to the department of environmental control…we have lived in Montgomery for 35 years and have never seen a restaurant with such disregard for customer health and environment safety..so disappointed. UPDATED!! The owner has replied to my review basically calling me a liar,so I reached out to some of his previous workers and received some images from them.i will post them with this update now

I told my wife, this is a “groovy” place. Love the combination of Puerto Rican, U.S and Mexican food blend. Their breakfast is delicious. Hard roll sandwiches, platanitos, tacos, and empanadas. A must try. I love the heart and mission of this business. Update: had the chorizo Mac empanadas, Avocado Boat and my wife is not hungry with additional yuca fries. Review stands

Honest review… I travel for food and culture.. my wife is a Michelin star chef which she was present when we made this purchase. I’m puertorrican born and raised, have a house there constantly traveling and eating food not only from PR but many places around the world. I’m not expecting to come to Montgomery NY and have the best PR food but at least a decent meal. With this said here’s my review:
First the place its ok… there’s limited seats and there’s no ventilation system so your clothes will be smelling after. The decoration is like a “Toñitas” but many paintings and abstract art..
Service: The young lady was fantastic she answered all my questions and was very polite. She definitely get the 5 stars. The owner is rude and pretentious his attitude was very I’m the man and I know my stuff…
Food:
I hate to say it I took 2 bites and threw the food away. The rice was horrible, the beans had no flavor and the pernil was a disappointment. I ordered the alcapurria and it was definitely not it la masa the filling… not ok … I wasn’t expecting the WOW but at least a ok. The food was greasy and all needed seasoning, some type of flavor.
The end of story needs definitely improving, the place need to be be more inviting and the food needs to be cook properly and with care. I’m disappointed at the owner and his way of handling when asking a question and answered like I was offending him. Not knowing who I was and who I was with..

Ordered from them for a catered event and it was perfect!! Generous amounts of food at a great price! Everything was delicious and my guests especially loved the sausage and peppers and the beef and cheese empanadas. Nelson was so nice and thorough! Fantastic experience!

I ordered the Mac and cheese, berry smoothie, and the vegan jerk chicken plate. The Mac and cheese looked to be kraft Noodles, they were very mushy and covered in a small amount of possibly Velveeta cheese (it didn’t taste good) so they were dry too. The smoothie tasted savory nothing like a berry and the The rice for the plate wasnt fully cooked. The jerk “Chicken” didn’t taste like jerk at all. I’m not sure how they have so many good reviews. My assumptions are they’re getting the negative reviews removed. Everything was horrible And a Complete waste of money!
