Seong Sushi Bar in Juneau keeps things intimate, with a small dining room and a dedicated sushi bar area that gives the space a cozy, neighborhood feel. The menu spans sushi alongside a selection of other Pan-Asian dishes, making it approachable whether you are in full sashimi mode or dining with a mixed- craving crew.
Service was a bright spot from the start. Staff were very friendly, quick, and efficient, keeping things moving smoothly without feeling rushed.
On the sushi front, the rice leaned a bit dense for my preference, but credit where it is due. The rice-to-fish ratio was refreshingly restrained and closer to proper Japanese proportions than the overly rice-heavy builds you sometimes see in more Westernized spots. That alone was appreciated.
The sashimi selection is limited but was solid across the board, with the salmon standing out as a highlight. The clear star of the table, however, was the seared pepper fin tuna. Nicely executed, well balanced, and easily the dish worth circling on the menu.
Bottom line: A friendly, efficient sushi stop in Juneau with respectable fish quality and one must-order tuna dish.

Hands down the best sushi I’ve ever eaten. I always look for good sushi when I travel, and it’s unfortunate that this place is so far away from home for me! Fresh salmon. Fresh ingredients. Server was very friendly. If you are in town, this is a must stop location!

Wow! What a delightful meal and experience. We came here early at opening time and had the place to ourselves. The sushi was some of the freshest we’ve ever had while the fried rice was soft and fluffy, and other entrees superb. I wish I could transport this place to our hometown!

This is one of my favorite spots in town! I have never had a bad experience at Seong’s. They have great food, gluten free options and prepare their food with care. The owners are always around, and are such nice people. Best spot for takeout on a Friday night!

Worst Sushi I have ever had.
Inedible! Not even fit for a stray dog.
Horrible and rude customer service.
I will never visit this place again. I remember when it was good. Downhill…
$50.00 absolutely wasted.

Ordered takeout! The sushi, miso soup, and sesame honey chicken were INCREDIBLE. Great egg rolls. Everything was packaged very well and got home still warm. Our new favorite place!

The cozy sushi shack is located almost downtown, which gives you plenty of street parking while still being close to all of Juneaus’ main attractions. Very nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. The wide selection of fresh made sushi and hot traditional dishes are great too.

My favorite restaurant in town. Staff are absolutely top notch and we love them. Attentive, friendly and quick service. We also travel a lot and you would think the bigger coastal cities would have good sushi, but nope, nothing is as good as Seongs. I’ve been getting the Futomaki for 20 years and it’s hands-down the best vegetarian sushi I’ve ever had (the smoked tofu bit sets it apart from everywhere else!). My only wish is that they were open on Sundays in the summer because I find myself craving their delicious food every day of the week and on a sunny Sunday in the summer, Seongs would be on the top of the list (not a bad thing, just love it that much). If you’re on the fence about where to get sushi in Juneau, there’s no comparison. Just put in an order and let your tastebuds be the judge. You won’t be disappointed. If you’re looking for vegetarian sushi, trust me. This is it.
