It’s not an exaggeration when I say I’d pick Shug’s over any other bar in Salisbury, or even in surrounding towns and cities. Their prices are fantastic, and their drinks are phenomenal – especially the rosemary old fashioned, and their seasonal menus are to die for. I’ve never had a bad experience with any of the bartenders nor the owners. Every friend I’ve taken to Shug’s has enjoyed themselves, there’s plenty of comfortable seating and live music. Absolutely love sitting on the patio at night during the summer. Thank y’all for doing what you do!

Stumbling on this bar you would never guess that a humble abode (literally a house with a open sign) could have such cool blend of fun. Very artsy spot that has a lot of potential highly recommend visiting if you ever find yourself in Salisbury NC.

This place is a hidden gem. I honestly had a wonderful time soaking in the atmosphere and alcohol of this place. Gingers revenge, Carolinabis, Elderflower cocktail all had a great unique taste. Benny Hagerty preformed live music, and he was beyond amazing. Sadly there was no food since the kitchen closed down. Its great to see local artists paintings on walls as well. Service was quick. Would go out of my way to visit this place once again.

UPDATE #2 (5-22-22) Seating is still the same – small close knit tables revolving around the bar. Be prepared to run a tab — it’s just one of the quirks. My son and I checked out the “Cheerwine” cocktail specials – I had the lemonade Cheerwine and he had the Whiskey Cheerwine (loved it so much he had TWO!).
Moved from inside seating to outdoor, on the deck seating to hear live music. Paid for a round of drinks for the musicians! Ope!!!
Food came out and we headed back in to eat. I had the steak special (8oz strip served w green beans and tomatoes w a small side salad and roasred potatoes)!. The kid had the other special which was Shugs chicken Philly and fries. Needless to say my $24 steak did not stand up to his $14 Chicken Philly with peppers, onions, melted provolone, Chipotle mayo and fries.
Overall a great experience for a hipster kind of vibe for Salisbury on a Sunday afternoon. It’s a bit pricey but you won’t find anything similar.

UPDATE #1- Unique little place – restored house turned into a very small restaurant and bar. Has about 7 or 8 tables total, plus seating for 5 at the bar. Everything is ordered and paid for at the bar. Our food was served by the chef. Appetizer was bruschetta – overpriced, but good. Had the chicken sandwich and the steak sandwich- both were good. They make their own fries and have homemade salad dressings — the blue cheese on the fries is the bomb!!! We went for lunch during the week and were able to take our time. Did not care for having to order and pay at the bar (had to leave tip before service) before getting food or service. Otherwise, would like to go back and try their mac ‘n cheese.

Wow what a great discovery.

Cozy bar with a speakeasy feel. The night we went Soul Pax was performing live. Great show.

Great selection of beer. Limited menu but food was great.

Pro Tip: Sit anywhere you like but you need to order at the bar.

Worth the stop!

A very nice experience @ Shug’s. Very friendly staff, very cozy and comfortable. The customers are friendly and welcoming. I hear the food is good. I was there for my granddaughters Bday party and we supplied our own food, I didn’t get to taste their food, but I’ll be back.

Love everything about this circa 1880s cottage turned speakeasy! Yum food, friendly staff, a great variety behind the bar, and quickly becoming Salisbury’s best live music scene! Outdoor seating is charming and a major plus!!! YAY SHUG’S!!!
