*Dine LA experience

My friends and I got together after we finished our book club novel and met for dinner during dine LA. A few of us had Uchi on our list and was excited to try. We all ordered a range of cocktails and NA beverages. Everything was crafted well with a lot of yuzu notes. We all participated in the set menu curated for dine LA. Everyone’s favorites were the Hama Chili, the yellowtail was marinated in a tangy ponzu chili sauce and the mandarin oranges were sweet touch. Pork belly was another favorite and we were full at the end of our courses. We were all a bit underwhelmed by the dessert and most of us didn’t finish it. The white chocolate shell was a bit sweet and hard to eat. The yuzu filling also was polarizing for the table. The service was spectacular and the waiter even gave us a specialty salad hand roll on the house due to a longer wait time than usual. I notice that some servers treat Dine LA patrons differently but at Uchi the staff was attentive and friendly! Would come back especially for their happy hour. Each person’s tab after everything was about ~$95

My friends hyped up this place as some of the best sushi they’ve ever had, and brought us along. We did Somakase (not omakase), where we picked our preference for King salmon, Shima aji (striped Jack), Ootoro, Scallop, uni, and others, as well as our desired $ amount per person (we were ready to drop some $$ that night). They didn’t have any shellfish. From all of that, we really liked: scallop, ootoro, dry aged steel head trout, and Shima aji with brown butter + potato chip. For dessert, I really liked the fried milk. Cocktails were good, but I can’t think of any I’d recommend.
Overall, the fish quality was high, but I’ve had tastier cuts from other reputable sushi restaurants in SoCal. The arrival pace of the dishes was a mystery; variable. And we didn’t question it (Omakase by definition), but we later realized we got doubles of some dishes, and caviar, which didn’t really elevate the experience. The final price tag for a party of 6 was $2.3k, which was ~$52 more per person than we had requested. Overall I had higher expectations, and I won’t go back.

Uchi is pretty decent. The vibe is cool trendy. Service was polite but felt bit rushed and not as personable.
Food-wise, nothing was terrible, but not mind blowing either. A couple of dishes were tasty, a couple were bland, the sushi rice is left to be desired.
Prices felt a bit high for an experience that screams ‘it’s fine. Not in huge rush to be back.

Lively atmosphere with great Japanese food! Our server Quon was extremely kind and made our experience great. Attentive to detail!

Parking can be awful but there’s valet out front (Luckily we did street parking for free).

Everything we ordered was phenomenal – appetizers to sushi it was all great and was perfect on timing. Sushi definitely has a twist to it and I loved the different flavors. This isn’t cheap sushi, so everything tasted extremely fresh and well prepped. Total bill was about $400 for two so come prepared to spend (forget to take pictures of few more items) I highly recommend it and we’re for sure to return.

I and my girlfriend spent anniversary at the Ucin as I saw the hype from instagram post. That was our first time at restaurant too. We made a reservation at the sushi bar hoping to see what chef made us, but that was not the case. The sushi bar is setup in the way that you cannot see what chef does. We had Dine-LA, the course was mid. We should just got 9 courses instead omakase during happy hour. Overall, prepare to pay big for average quality sushi.

Come for the vibes, but not the sushi. There’s nothing spectacular about the sushi. The flavor of the fish is often masked by “innovative”sauces and flavor combos that don’t always make sense. The nori on our gunkan Ikura roll was soggy by the time it was served. The rice to fish ratio in our nigiri also felt off (too much rice). Uchi felt like fusion cuisine (done poorly) to me. The ambience and environment is very nice though! And the drinks and service was excellent. I’d come again and maybe just get some drinks.

Had an awesome experience at Uchi West Hollywood. From the moment we sat down, the service and attention to detail stood out.

We sat at the bar and ordered progressively as we got hungrier, letting the team guide us through different dishes and experiences. Connor, our server/chef, and Davis, our drink server, were both fantastic — super knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience. They asked about allergies and preferences up front, which immediately made us feel taken care of, and there was never any pressure to rush or over-order.

The pacing was perfect, the food was consistently excellent, and the ambiance is beautiful — relaxed, elevated, and inviting. Everything felt intentional without feeling stiff.

I drive by Uchi all the time and somehow never realized what I was missing. I’m so glad a friend suggested stopping in for sushi — it was exactly what we were craving and more. Can’t wait to come back.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (If only Google allowed 10 stars!)

My family has been loyal Uchi Austin customers for over 12 years, and we were thrilled to find out they have a location in LA!

We tried the tasting course, and every dish was absolutely amazing. The service from Tyler was friendly and attentive, and the space felt chic and trendy — making the overall experience truly delightful.

Highly recommended !

Food is creative but also kinda falls into a certain pattern if you try a couple more dishes.
Cocktails are actually worth trying. Service is great. Friendly responsive staff.
Kinda loud indoor. Hard to talk.
