The smoked BBQ pork was a bit too wet and vinegary. Overpowered the smoked flavor.
It is January, and the A/C was on too low, it was cold and uncomfortable.
I met a client there, so we had business to go over. We were both rushing to get thru our meeting to get outside to thaw out.
And on top of all that, they dont have internet.
????????????
So needless to say – fortunately, we “breezed” through our meeting and next time we will go down the street to meet for lunch.
Oh, hey, the staff was great though!

We ordered 2 briskwt plates. Brisket was juicy and tender but not much smoke flavor. Mac n cheese was very bland, could have been smoked to add flavor. Baked beans tasted liked canned beans. Potato salad was good.

There are a lot of barbecue places that pull up on a Google search. Do yourself a favor and put this one at the top of your list. The food was incredible, the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and the price was half as much as you’d pay anywhere else. The crowd was light (Wednesday at lunch), but it won’t stay that way for long. Get yourself here before the secret gets out. I am marking this place on my map as a “must stop” for anytime I’m in the area.

This place is hands down a hidden gem!! It’s a family owned business and they are all super nice and friendly!! The food is delicious!!! You can’t go wrong with anything you order!! We literally drive about 45 minutes just to eat there.. I would give it 10 stars actually, instead of 5!! Love it!!
Update: we can’t stop going to this place!! they even know us now. They have been so friendly every time we go in! And even if we skip a few weeks, when we walk in they act like we’re old friends! This is what a real family business is supposed to be like!! I don’t think they could get any better.

This restaurant is such a gem! Not only is the food amazing, but the customer service is even better! Each and every person working came by to thank us for coming. As I understand it, this is a family restaurant. These days it takes only the most courageous with passion to actually open a food establishment. I salute their hard work! Okay, so let me just say that I am very picky when it comes to my BBQ and it is hard to get 5 stars from me in this food group. Having owned a BBQ restaurant before and having 10 sauces of our own it can be hard to be impressed but this little place did just that. Smoke Friendly BBQ is really good and by far the best BBQ in Newton County and being honest its better than anything I’ve had in the surrounding areas of Newton, Rockdale, Henry and Morgan counties. The smoke flavor comes through with their meats from the pulled pork to the smoked chicken salad, right down to the amazing brisket tacos. I even tried the BIG Charlie that I am convinced should be world famous. That smoked bologna sandwich was AWESOME! Look don’t take my word for it, make the drive for yourself and taste the love and goodness they are serving up off HWY 212 in Newton County. Ragey and his staff are friendly and will welcome you in like family. You can even pick up a Georgia National Champion’s ring and GO DAWGS!

I wanted a bbq sandwich so I googled places close to me. I saw that this place had a 4.7 so I figured I’d give it a shot. I ordered a bbq pork sandwich, Mac & cheese & baked beans. The Mac & cheese was probably the best thing I ordered. It seemed a little old and was flavorless but nevertheless the best thing on the plate. The baked beans were very tangy, no sweetness and pretty bad to say the least. As far as the worse thing, the bbq sandwich which is what I wanted to begin with. It was horrible. I took one bite and spit it out. I only taste vinegar, no other flavors! Perhaps I picked the wrong things on the menu idk. The service was pretty decent! Considering the service, I’ll give this place a 1/10.

Met up with another couple for dinner here. I had the 1/4 rack ribs with slaw and Mac and Cheese. My wife had the pork sandwich. Everything was perfect and, yes, the staff there are very attentive and happy. Makes you wonder what they are putting in their drinks…lol jk. So, we loved this place and will come back. It turns out a lot of other people are doing the same. Prices are competitive and maybe in some cases cheaper.
