The whole experience is awesome at Suhsi Shunei…
From the Welcome to the explanation of the dished and the warm-heartedly owner which engages in customer interaction by explaining the difference in the fish served.
The preparation and quality of the suhsi is superb and can recommend the non-alcoholic pairing, which fits well with the dishes.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Shunei, and it was truly an unforgettable omakase experience. From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere felt inviting — modern, minimalist, and impeccably clean — setting the perfect tone for the evening.

What stood out immediately was the chef himself. Rarely have I seen a sushi chef exude such genuine joy and passion for his craft. His energy was infectious and added a uniquely personal touch to the entire experience.

I enjoyed the 14-piece nigiri omakase, complemented by 3 tsumami (small appetizer-style dishes). Each piece of sushi was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented.
• The Negitoro was a standout — incredibly flavorful, with a perfect balance of rich, fatty tuna and refreshing scallion. It had that melt-in-your-mouth quality that truly felt like the fish was “dancing” on the palate.
• The Ebi (shrimp) was impressively fresh and sweet, showcasing the chef’s attention to sourcing and preparation.
• Every bite reflected a deep respect for traditional technique, combined with a modern sensibility.

If you’re looking for a joyful, high-quality omakase in a contemporary yet intimate setting, Sushi Shunei is well worth a visit.

#93 in my challenge of trying every Parisian Michelin Stars under a year (follow to see all my reviews).
Sushi little heaven in Paris.

What’s interesting here? I’ll limit it to two things: the quality of the ingredients and the little touches.
First a quick disclaimer: we did not have master Shunei but another chef. We got a call earlier warning us he was sick. Looking briefly at reviews it seems it’s not an unique case. Second little point: we were only eight. I’m saying it because I’ve seen comments mentioning tables. In our case we were eight at the bar.
So, the ingredients: the fish was amazing. For instance, the mackerel was to die for. So the quality of the ingredients, the cut and the preparation. It’s simple as that. Or is it? Well they added little touches (specific oils etc…), but extremely subtle that enhance the sushi. Then you have the all atmosphere of the sushi ya.
It’s very close to Sushi B in terms. We were fewer there so the atmosphere was a bit more intimate. But Sushi B has its quality (check my review and compare the price).
But I have to admit that I could go alone in both, just to admire the show and the skill displayed.
Amusingly, when we were there we were the only table not celebrating a birthday (so no cake for us, “but for me it was a Tuesday “). Actually, I’m saying it because I do think they are right, and it’s a nice and original birthday (or anniversary) celebration dinner.

Clearly deserves its star.

The best sushi experience ever.
The reservation of the restaurant was not hard. Most of the customers were foreign.
They have 120€ and 180€ menus and it was definitely worth every penny. You can really taste that they know so so so much of the fish and they really care about the ingredients they use. They tell you to eat the sushi within 7 sec after they put in on the plate in front of you.

I am a regular guest of fine dining restaurants around the world, and I work in the restaurant industry myself.
I never imagined I could experience something this disappointing in a Michelin-starred establishment.

Yesterday, my partner and I arrived at the restaurant for a reservation made through their system. Only then did we discover that, due to a simple mistake when selecting the date (a mistake we fully acknowledge), the reservation was actually for the following day.

That part was our fault.
Everything that followed, however, is entirely on the restaurant.

The dining room manager treated us with surprisingly unprofessional manners: rigid tone, no willingness to help, and a complete lack of empathy. She even stopped speaking English and addressed us only in French (a language I do not understand), eventually signaling with gestures for us to leave the restaurant immediately.
Such behavior is unacceptable in any setting, let alone in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

We were scheduled to leave the next day, so we would not have been able to return for the reservation anyway.

After fifteen minutes standing outside in total confusion, I went back inside to ask for clarification. Only after further waiting were we contacted by someone from the back office, who reassured us that the reservation would be cancelled and that no charge would be applied for the misunderstanding. Despite the questionable attitude of the dining room manager, we thought the issue was finally resolved.

Unfortunately, today — the very next day — a €400 charge appeared on my credit card, with no explanation or authorization.

I find this behavior unethical, dishonest, and deeply damaging to the trust one should be able to place in a Michelin-listed restaurant.
This is not about the money — although, of course, I’m not in the business of giving it away — but about professional integrity, ethics, and respect for the customer.

Incidents like this harm not only the restaurant itself, but also the reputation of the entire guide and of the establishments that truly deserve their star.

Truly embarrassing.

One of the best sushi experience in my life! (6 years of life in Japan behind me..)
It’s clear that every detail was thought out, the place is very japanese traditional!
minimalistic but eye-catching design, food presentation, fish, green carbonated tea (wow!), the chef and the women who work there – everything was amazing! a place for those who really want to get not only a quality dinner but also an amazing experience of Japanese cuisine.

p.s. don’t make my mistake, refrain from eating at least 6 hours before dinner because halfway through the menu I started to feel full!

Finally a new authentic sushi bar in Paris. Everything has been thought to offer you a realistic Japanese experience from the decoration to the service. The fish is selected everyday with daily delivery from Japan (not carbon free). You’ll also find a fine selection of sake. The service is amazing. If you can afford this Omakasse experience don’t hesitate.

My partner and I arrived at this Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris after mistakenly booking the reservation for the wrong day — an error we fully acknowledged. What followed, however, was unacceptable: the manager treated us rudely, asked us to leave using gestures, refused to speak English, and showed zero hospitality.

We were later assured by the restaurant’s back office that no charge would be applied.
Despite this, the next day I was charged €400 for the reservation.

Two days after the incident, I received a phone call from the restaurant during which I was yelled at for over 20 minutes, being accused of lying in my review.

The sole purpose of the call was to demand that I apologize to their team for what I wrote — a review that, although uncomfortable for them, accurately reflects what happened.
This is the same team that threw me out of the restaurant, treated me disrespectfully, and showed a complete lack of professionalism.

I was not contacted to resolve the situation, to clarify anything, or to offer any form of apology.
I was contacted only to be attacked, after being removed from the restaurant, mistreated, and charged for a reservation I was unable to use.

It is now even clearer that hospitality is not considered a priority here — not even a basic one — let alone a value worthy of a Michelin-starred establishment.

Fabulous omakase in a modern cathedral like room. The squid roll was particularly unique and the tuna was silky and melt in your mouth. Recommend ordering the regular omakase and selecting your favorite pieces as additional if still hungry afterwards. I found the additional elements of the larger omakase to be underwhelming.
