Reviews
At Gennaro’s in Quincy, Anthony has stepped confidently into the role of chef and leader in 2024, bringing fresh energy to a restaurant already steeped in tradition. His new dishes like the alfredo with steak are inventive yet grounded in the Italian family values that have long defined this establishment. Portions are really generous, flavors bold especially the meat sauce, and execution flawless. Watching Anthony at work is a show in itself—he can command five dishes at once, each with house-made sauces and careful attention to detail. The staff worked seamlessly together.
The menu stretches beyond what I expected. Bakery items and pizza are available for takeout or dinning, making them perfect for families with children or for casual gatherings. Even the simplest offerings carry complex layers of taste, elevating snacks into something memorable. The wedding soup, in particular, is a standout: rich, comforting, and deeply satisfying.
Though Anthony is now at the helm, Gerry remains a guiding presence in an advisory role. His decades of experience are woven into the restaurant’s DNA, and he still demonstrates his mastery with a tossed pizza or a story about the traditions he helped shape. His influence ensures that Gennaro’s continues to honor its roots while embracing new directions. This place hasn’t lost a step!
Desserts are not to be missed trust me. Gerry’s skill as a pastry chef shines in every slice of rum cake, cannoli, carrot cake, and whoopie pie. These are not ordinary desserts—they are indulgent, oversized creations that feel like heaven on a plate. I had the biggest grin after eating truly indulgent food without regret. If you need a cheat day plan on something like this experience.
Gennaro’s is versatile in its appeal small but packs a punch. It works as a destination for date night, a family dinner, or even game-day snacks via takeout. The menu is diverse and ever-changing, able to satisfy a wide range of tastes. More than just a restaurant, it is a place where food tells a story of connection, tradition, and flavor. I’m sure the catering aspect retains the same wonderful homemade powerhouse meals. Great to rediscover some ground well covered.
The food, when it finally came out, well that’s a different story. The mashed potatoes half were cold, half were warm. We got the chicken picatta and the chicken marsala. Both dishes had the same chicken just different sauces. Chicken Marsala is supposed to have a seasoned flour then pan fried. Not even a trace of a seasoned flour.
Well we tried it, and will not be back. Our server deserves all the praise. That’s the only reason the overall experience was a 2 and not a 1. She was a 5.
We ordered different dishes, and everything arrived hot and absolutely delicious. You can really tell they care about quality and customer service. As a lovely surprise, our waitress even gave us cookies at the end, which made the experience even more special.
Overall, everything was wonderful. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back!
Portions are big enough so if you are just two people going make sure you order one by one
The only thing they should take care of is the Floor.. Don’t no why that’s so slippery .. watch your steps
