This is my wonderful neighborhood spot. First thing- the folks who work there are so kind and friendly! Hardworking people who do their best to make the experience pleasant. The sushi is absolutely delicious and so fresh. The kitchen apps are really good too and their salads are always very filling. Prices are great and you can actually enjoy some sushi without breaking the bank.

9/10!! Ikyu had amazing staff. My girlfriend accidentally dropped a chopstick, and they immediately came to give a new one. Sometimes, it’s the little things. The sushi rolls were slightly expensive anywhere from $10-20. The plate in front of me is the Salmon Fizz Roll and a Shrimp Tempura Roll behind it. The one on the other plate was a Salmon Skin roll. All of them were served well. The fish was fresh, the ingredients were prepped properly, and overall was a very enjoyable experience. For desert, we tried the cream cheese ice cream with honey and peanuts (I know sounds weird). The server even made shredded to ask if we were allergic to peanuts which some servers don’t do enough honestly. After a while it did grow on me, and it felt like the dish only came together when you had all three on a spoon. The honey with only the ice cream felt misplaced. So I’d give desert a 6.5/10. The ambiance is really nice, and definitely makes for a great spot to eat whether you’re on a date or by yourself (They have stools in front of the sushi bar). Definitely would go again!

We love sushi and try it pretty much everywhere we go. Our sushi rolls were pretty decent. We tried the sweet potato, oshinko, yellowtail and scallion, the peanut avocado, and the spicy mango shrimp rolls. Everything tasted pretty great and we were happy with the quality of the food. The atmosphere was nice. It was a quiet little spot, tucked away, with an intimate atmosphere. As we were sitting there they added fresh flowers to all the tables. The restaurant and the bathrooms looked clean and we didn’t have any wait getting a table.
The cons were that, even though it was clean, there was no soap in the bathroom, we didn’t have any soy sauce on our table and had to grab it off another table, and the water they served us was pretty warm. It was poured from a glass jar sitting on the table and it felt as though it had been sitting out for a long time.
Overall it was a good experience and it was worth our money.

Great new sushi place in the area. We were able to walk in on Sunday night and eat at the sushi bar (there were tables too). Service was super fast & staff was very nice. Prices are reasonable but some of the portions were small (crispy rice with tuna & the rock shrimp were smaller than we expected). Otherwise, food was good! Will definitely come back here and try more rolls. Front of the restaurant is a little bright for my liking but the back had better lighting & atmosphere.

While wandering around the Upper East Side, I stumbled upon Ikyu 一休, a sushi restaurant that immediately caught my attention. This spotless and aesthetically pleasing establishment offers an impressive variety of sushi and Asian Fusion Cuisine.
From the moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the restaurant’s inviting atmosphere. The array of sushi options available was both extensive and intriguing, catering to a wide range of tastes and preferences. Each dish I tried was a testament to the excellent ingredients’ quality. The sushi was fresh, expertly prepared, and presented beautifully, making each bite a delightful experience.
Ikyu 一休 is a real find for anyone in the Upper East Side looking for high-quality sushi in an attractive setting. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or just exploring the delights of Asian Fusion Cuisine, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

I ordered Kara-Age (fried chicken), a single scallop sushi, and pork katsu with rice and miso soup. The environment was warm and cozy. The scallop was nice and fresh. It had jelly-like texture and wasn’t fishy at all. However, it wasn’t as sweet as I expected. The fried chicken was okay. The oil smelled a bit stale. The better had a soft crunch to it. The chicken inside was tender and juicy, but the batter was a little too thick. The pork katsu was good. It was crispy on the outside and the inside was nice and firm. For some reason, it didn’t have the stale smell to it like the fried chicken did. The portion was very good. I almost couldn’t finish it. The miso soup was average.
Overall, it was a standard experience. The staff were friendly.

Delicious! We stopped in for a late dinner the other week during their soft opening.
Decor and ambiance is lovely and a great addition to the UES for something that feels fancier vs casual, but reasonable prices!
The sushi was fresh and the mango roll was fun to try and not too sweet. My boyfriend enjoyed his garlic steak dish.
Friendly service! I hope they have lots of success.

Ordered pickup for the first time, we got the sushi and sashimi platter for 2. It was pricey, but delicious.
The miso soup was probably the best I’ve ever had! It was so flavorful and I wish I got more of it. Salmon is my favorite and it met my expectations.
The fish is very fresh, but for the money I spent, I was expecting it to blow my mind. It’s definitely a good spot for basic rolls, but if I want to spend lots of money on sushi I’ll go elsewhere.

Great neighbourhood sushi spot. Ordered the sushi dinner for two that came with either miso soup or salad. Good range of sushi and definitely fresh. There is a nice ambiance and a good place for a family dinner or date night
