Very, very good value for money! We ordered the chicken summer rolls, pork baos, yellow chicken curry and the Vietnamese chicken salad and were thoroughly impressed with everything. I’ve heard so much about them, and I used to see their food truck all the time, so it’s surprising that it took me this long to visit them!
There were so many items on the menu that we went with their recommendation instead. The seafood spring rolls were surprisingly good, I loved the texture the woodear mushroom gives to the spring roll, and the dip was refreshing. The ever so popular slow cooked beef and yellow curry were super comforting, the beef was very soft and breaks apart, but secretly I am more of a curry girl, and that curry hit the spot! It had a very little kick of spiciness but not too much, and it was a whole duck leg in it! Plus the chicken salad was a surprise to me, I am usually not a salad person, but it came highly recommended, and I can see why! The dressing was the perfect mix of sweet, sour and tanginess, and it was super refreshing! I enjoyed it more than I thought I would! Of course, I had to get my favorite Vietnamese iced coffee, which was so fun to watch! I tried to do a time lapse video but you can probably guess I gave up halfway because the food arrived, and I decided that was more important than filming the rest of the dripping action
My foodie buddy enjoyed the mango smoothie as well.
The ambience was nice too, with a variety of Oriental coloured lanterns on the ceiling, the restaurant is slightly hidden away from the street but if you have not been, I hear the banh mi is one of the best in Wellington too!

Amazing experience! We ordered the Pho and the iced Vietnamese coffee – both were absolutely delicious. The flavours were authentic and felt like a true taste of Vietnam right in the heart of Wellington. Highly recommended if you’re craving something comforting and genuine!

We love eating at Nam D! The food is always fresh and tasty, the staff are super friendly, and it’s a big plus that they’re dog-friendly too. We took our little Cavoodle there yesterday and had such a good time.
We got the spicy noodles and the noodles with crispy spring rolls and pork patties—absolutely delicious ! We also tried the Vietnamese coffee and the lychee smoothie, and both were good.
Definitely becoming one of our fave spots to eat! Highly recommended ✨

I’ve been here so many times and tried every dish on their menu, and honestly every single one is top notch! My all time favorites are still Bo Kho and Cha Gio (seafood spring roll), but I’ve just added a new one to the list, the Shaking Beef.
Almost every dish is beautifully balanced, not too salty, not too sweet, just perfectly seasoned. In the photo are the Shaking Beef and Braised Pork Jelly, absolutely delicious! We forgot to take pictures of the other dishes because they were just too good to wait for photos. Totally slipped my mind.
I’ve been here so many times that I’ve become familiar with the owners and staff here. They’re all so friendly, lovely, warm, and genuinely welcoming.
Definitely coming back again. Still my favorite spot for authentic Vietnamese food!

Nam D was one of our favourites during our trip to Wellington. We got dinner for takeaways 3 or 4 times in our week stay and loved it every single time! Our recommendations are the chicken summer rolls, vegetable spring rolls, thai chicken salad, shaken beef and the chicken banh mi. We will definitely be making a trip to Wellington again just for Nam D!

Not flash, but a very warm & welcoming team & vibe, in a quiet courtyard just off of Willis St near Boulcott. The pho was wonderful – for those familiar with the SF Bay area, on par with Turtle Tower in SF or Pho to Chau in Mountain View. Hope to be back to try other items mentioned by previous reviewers!
(BTW, the bathrooms were spotless, always a good sign that the kitchen is likewise grade A…)

Generous portion sizes, located conveniently on Willis st, the venue is nice and quiet, we got the grilled chicken and the pork noodle salad, the chicken was a bit dry, solid base but was nothing outstanding about the dishes, definitely a bit underwhelming given the 4.9 star review, but overall great value, fast and friendly service.
