I tried Minami Sushi for the first time when my co-worker ordered an avocado roll with spicy mayo and insisted I take a bite — and I’m so glad she did! I never imagined something this simple could be so tasty.
Since then, I’ve ordered it about 4–5 times and it’s become my go-to. I’m a big fan of their avocado roll now! Can’t wait to try more items from their menu.

Having been a HUGE fan of the original location in Aurora, I had no doubt in my mind that the Newmarket location would be nothing short of fantastic. It’s a much smaller shop, specializing in takeout orders but the quality is still top notch.
My four favourite special rolls are: Orangeville, Amazing Spider, Black Dragon, and Neo Tokyo. They only use the freshest ingredients and are not stingy with them!

This place is absolute my go to for takeout (through ubereats). I feel really strongly about their food because it is just that good. I always get the ‘Hako Spicy Salmon Sushi” and it NEVER disappoints. They are so consistent and I am so satisfied every time. The ratio of rice to salmon, sauce, and presentation is perfect. If you’re a fan of torched sushi, I recommend this place.

First time order in Newmarket location. Sashimi and Sushi Platter, our family always ordered in Aurora location. I don’t know if the time is too early, and the fish supply today was not arrived. The Sashimi is obviously from yesterday, not fresh. Pretty disappointed.

Best sushi I’ve had in a very long time. Would have even given them a 6 star review if I could. My only regret is not having ordered a platter as I don’t always frequent the area. I’ll know better next time 😉
This is their new Newmarket location (the other one is in Aurora which I had also heard rave reviews about). My 1st time trying Minami and decided on the Lunch Roll Combo J – 3 pieces Spicy Salmon + 9 pieces Orangeville roll + salad + miso soup for takeout.
Spicy Salmon Roll: the size of the roll is about a 2cm radius. Haven’t seen rolls like these with quality substance (and not rice fillers) in a long time. Even had red tobiko in with the tempura bits. Spicy-ness level was perfect.
Orangeville Roll: Spicy scallop in there with tobiko, avocado, cucumber, salmon on on top with some octopus shavings and avocado. On the saucier side but very tasty and equally presentable.
Excellent service. Thoroughly impressed. Can’t wait to make an excuse to visit again! Keep it up Minami! Open up a location in Richmond Hill next please thanks 🙂

This Minami location has always made the most delicious sushi for our family over the years and is very careful re: cross contamination with gluten. Adding extra GF soy sauce to our orders is a thoughtful touch. And the maki are always very generously sized! The family that run this business are always extremely kind and warm and thoughtful.
